Subject: RE: Barton, Beds - July things From: breezy Date: 09 Jul 05 - 02:15 PM Hello Ross and mart, O K update Wednesday 10th Aug George Papavgeris hosts and presents Alaska Mike at the Duke of Marlborough Sat 10th Sept evening concert with Mike Agranoff from New Jersey who is a cult fugure over there, I saw him at Herga 18 months or so ago and vowed to book him , he is amazingly talented and a highly professional performer from the top drawer of folk entertainers, a 'definite 'must see' artiste for anyone who is anyone in folk. During the afternoon there will be an outdoor free 'mini fest' in the Duke of Marlborough's Barnyard starting at 2,00p.m. featuring the young Natasha Silver, and the highly acclaimed Tindall family from Oxford. Other artistes are yet to be confirmed but George Papavgeris, Chris Flegg, Christine Connolley and Steve Last are likely to be there. Bit like the garden gigs we did. The bonus is all artistes get to see Mike Agranoff in the evening. So , where are you guys that day? Bout time Martin sang us a few more at the legion and try to be there for Lanfranc next Sunday |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds - July things From: Bertie Date: 14 Jul 05 - 05:27 AM Hi Ross, It sad as the following copy I hope Alan does not mind me posting it - as follows >>> I had hoped I would not need to tell you all about this until the problem is solved, but I think I do need to speak now. You will be aware that Caffeine has had a long running problem with regard to a Public Entertainment Licence (PEL). As a result of that licence still not being in place when we finished the season on July 1st, the folk club will no longer meet there. Finding a new venue is proving difficult, those places with a room so seldom have a PEL. If any of you can recommend a place to try I would be pleased to hear from you. I will of course keep you posted as we have some great guests booked, and a new lower price policy in place. Now the good news ! I made reference to a party on Aug 27th to raise funds for a school in the mountains of Tibet. Attached is detail behind what we are helping with (apologies to those who have had a copy already and an invitation to the party. Many thanks to those who can't come and have sent or promised a donation. All the best Alan & Sue <<< |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds - July things From: Ross Date: 29 Jul 05 - 04:45 AM Hi Bert The Blue Anchor is a bigger version than Barton - it's all held in the saloon bar - quite a big room - you can ride a horse in it Same format - go around the room - sometimes it's two songs each per go - It depends on the numbers there The hosts train a searchlight on you whilst you sing and a flock of seagulls fly around the room (all dressed as the pope) Nothing to worry about then Bert - don't wear dark clothes |
