Subject: Lyr Add: DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT
From: sophocleese
Date: 19 May 00 - 11:17 AM

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lighting they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see your ship go sailing
When you feel your heart is breaking
Hold tight to your dream.

It's a long time to be gone
Time just rolls on and on
When you need a shoulder to cry on
When you get so sick of trying
Just hold tight to your dream

When you get so down that you can't get up
And you want so much but you're all out of luck
When you're so downhearted and misunderstood
Just over & over & over you could

Accroches-toi a ton reve
Accroches-toi a ton reve
Quand tu vois ton bateau partir
Quand tu sents -- ton coeur se briser
Accroches-toi a ton reve.

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see the shadows falling
When you hear that cold wind calling
Hold on tight to your dream.

Hold on tight to your dream
Yeah, hold on tight...
To your dream!

My favorite ELO song, and my own personal theme song.

Anyone know the proper phrasing for the Simone de Beauvoir quote from the daycare scenes in a 70s Doonesbury strip with Joanie - something about there being 2 kinds of people, human beings and men (or human beings and women, I can't get it to make sense either way, but the gist is ...) that when women start acting like human beings, they are accused of trying to be men?

Act like a human being, is my motto. Which, when I say it to my kids, tends to come out Behave! - to which at least one has already answered But mom, I'm being hayve!

Compensation

I should be glad of loneliness
And hours that go on broken wings
A thirsty body, a tired heart
And the unchanging ache of things,
If I could make a single song
As lovely and full of light
As hushed and brief as a falling star
On a winter night.

You don't have to move a mountain
All you have to move is you
Write a letter, help a neighbor
Lift your voice, try something new
Though that voice may be small and quiet
It can make a mighty sound
Find it in yourself and try it
You can turn the world around
