Life is something that happens when you're busy planning other things. - Watching the Wheels - Joh Lennon

Given that was on the last album it always makes me think.

Lesseee...give ya the list:

I like viable women who are out there doing....I like women who are very involved with living and who haven't pulled out from life
Collen Dewhurst

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night
Edgar Allen Poe

I'll walk where my own nature would be leading, it vexes me to choose another guide
Emily Bronte

I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom in mea magnificent glow, than a sleep and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exhist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time
Jack London

Life is easier than you think. All that is necessary is to accept the impossible, do without the indispensible, and bear the intolerable
Kathleen Norris

Ever notice that "What the hell" is always the right decision?
Marilyn Monroe

One has to abandon altogether the search for security, and reach out to the risk of living with both arms. One has to court doubt and darkness as the cost of knowing, One needs a will stubborn in conflict, but apt always to total acceptance of every consequence of living and dying
Morris L. West

I will not live by ordinary standards. I will not run with the pack. I will not be chained into a routine of living which is the same forothers. I will not look to the ground and move on the ground with the rest: so long as there are those mountaintops, and clouds, and limitless space
Nicholas Van Ryn (Dragonwyck)

Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature
Tom Robbins

You know too much...I'm afraid I'm going to have to kill you now...

I read Shamble's original post and then read the thread again to see if all this "positive thinking" started that way or slowly eeked its way in and I think its some combination thereof............But if we're passing on personal "life quotes we live by".........I offer only two and neither fits in too well, but what the hell.

The world is a giant shithouse and we're the flies it attracts..........Gavin Lambert, "Inside Daisy Clover"

There is only what is; what should be never existed...Lenny Bruce, Stand-Up Philosopher

Found this in some clippings of my mother's:

"The Winning Way"

by Anon.

If you put a little loving into all the work you do
And a little bit of gladness, and a little bit of you,
And a little bit of sweetness, and a little bit of song,
Not a day will seem too tollsome; not a day will seem too long;
And your work will be attractive, and the world will stop to look,
And the world will see a sweetness, like the tinkling of a brook,
In the finished job, and then the world will turn to look at you
With a world's appreciation of the thing you've found to do.

From Langston Hughes...

"Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly."

and I don't know who deserves credit for this one, but I like it...

"Triumph is merely ... TRY with a little UMPH!!"

This is my own little do it quote which I sadly haven't lived by:

As an American living in Canada I get a little tired of hearing the U.S. trashed — usually when I tell somebody I'm going somewhere south — as such a violent place. My standard answer has become: "I'd rather die from a bullet than boredom."

But then, if I really wanted some violence, I'd play hockey...

cheers,

david

Life is like a sewer - what you get out of it, depends on what you put into it...

Soon we'll be out into the hard worlds strife, soon we'll be sliding down the razor blade of life....

And my own personal chant -

Hearts full of youth
Hearts full of truth
Six parts gin to one part vermouth!

With thanks to Tom Lehrer.
