Save me a seat for Sunday. Should make it all being well. Won't miss Guru if I can help it.

Back from Whitsundays (Q'Land) yesterday and (I can't believe it) it's bl***y raining in Sydney!! and cold (well... coldish).

Hope all goes well Friday for the Lovely Hamish (no, sorry Hamish, the visualisation doesn't work), lovely Lorna and H. Good luck.

Breezy, what's going on next Monday that you are organising? Don't forget that as well as it being St David's day it's Herga's 41st Birthday. You are not thinking of b***ering off somewhere else are you?

Guru - think you call it 'meet on the ledge'

Hey - JB & George - what's this boasting about playing a gig at a nudist camp - I have reliable information that you bottled the gig

I'm especially miffed as I played a gig at Speilplatz last Summer and was sat at the top of the stairs facing all comers

I've never seen so many varieties of the human anatomy

Trouble is, I was boiling and didn't know whether it was polite to take me shirt off

Hell's Teeth.

I'm beginning to see this 'Sunday at the 'Legion' mularkey in a whole new 'orrible light.

So Breezy wasn't joking when he suggested he might start playing with his trousers round his ankles..

Sounds like there could be more meat and veg on display down there Sunday than in the Market on Saturday.

Bring a Casserole Guru!

Not if it's Breezy - you should only need a very small casserole Guru !

Dave,

Your revelation has come as a complete surprise. I had no idea. From your detailed knowledge I take that you've been a party to these goings on for quite some time?

So where does this "fully ventilated" style of singing originate?   To be honest, I thought "open tuning" referred to something quite different.

However, I have heard that in Opera Houses they sometimes fit their older tenors with jubilee clips in order to keep the b***ers tune.   What do ageing folk singers use?    bailer twine?

Maybe we'll find out on Sunday.

SM

I presume El Greco is aware of all this?    It certainly makes you wonder about those jaunts down to Devon.

Sorry to disappoint you Stage Manager, but all my info on Breezy comes from the when time I used to go out with a lot of his cast-off ladies - who appeared to find my own equipment somewhat of an improvement.

Mind you, I have been to "naturist" clubs many times - in fact Linda and I have been known to frequent such establishments quite recently. I have performed (musically I mean !) quite a few times in a natural state. A certain kentish morris side used to dance at one club annually - each year they "simplified" their kit until it consisted of bellpads baldricks and one extra bell hung from a certain part of the male anatomy. Dances with any low stickwork were not favoured on these outings.

I wasn't expecting to perform in such a state at The Spotlight on the 9th of May, though (that's if it's still going to be on after these comments about John) - mind you perhaps I could prevail upon Essex Girl to perform "Joan the Leather Queen" in the costume which she wore at Stony Stratford . . . . . .

Dave, At least the weather will be warmer in May. So Bare Naked Morris with bells on their willies eh? I'm surprised Breezy hasn't booked them for one of his "Singing to Trees" sessions. If you tell them its traditional they seem to go for anything round here.

Tune: The Belles Bells of St Mary's

In the crypt of Saint Mary's there once was folk singing,
And young girls were seduced by Breezy's sweet tones.
But after he'd had them, in my direction he chucked them,
And I'd then have to put up with these young ladies' moans.

for years and years, cos he didnt pay.

Well we got to pull the punters in for Dave's Sunday at the Legion when you can see for yourself.

Apparently he doesn't get to perform much these days.

Do you still sing 'Second hand Rose'?

The 'Charlton Chopper' , only its more the 'Woolwich Winkle'

This could run and run, just like the man.

Given the depths to which this thread has finally and inexorably sunk, I'd be grateful for some guidance as to how I'm meant to interpret:

"Well we got to pull the punters in for Dave's Sunday at the Legion when you can see for yourself.

I don't know - you just can't get the staff these days. Don't tell me I'll have to start my own thread for me and Lorna at the King Harry tomorrow? How demeaning that would be. And we're having full dress rehearsal at Stortfolk tonight - that's how seriously we take a Jonno gig.

You're in good company No Cookie, Harvey Andrews had to create his own thread too. Take it as a complement. The Word has got round that you're at the King Harry tomorrow and the queues are already beginning to form.

Pr***cing? Isn't that taking things a bit far? If word gets out people might begin to think you aren't up to it.

I don't know if Breezy was referring to musical or other types of performance - but I'm sure that Essex Girl will vouch that he is incorrect in both cases.

Essex Girl can't imagine what you're talking about!!! Dave might not venture as far as St albans very often but is performing well in Kent, South east London and parts of Essex.

Ummm, shall I be demeaned & start a thread on my Spotlight this Sunday??? I haven't started one for ages.......

Guru, I recommend the DIY option. If you have to wait for you-know-who there's no telling what you might end up with, or discover you're letting yourself in for. Frankly, some of the recent imaginings from that direction give rise to considerable concern.

BTW bring a tenderiser as well as the casserole, some of the steak round here is well past its sell by date.
