Due to a bit of a transmission error, on our part, we gave the wrong guests to Around Kent Folk for April, so here is our amended guest list:

Nellie's @ Tonbridge
First Mondays each month (except May) 8pm at
The Ivy House, Tonbridge High Street

Monday April 2nd: FIONA LARCOMBE & TERRY MANN- not to be missed, a class act...first time at Nellies, but with a formidable pedigree...

Monday APRIL 30th (to avoid May festivities) your very own
MALCOLM WARD with his unique blend of traditional chorusses and squeezy bits...

Monday June 4th: JOHN BARTLETT & PETE LUSCOMBE- both songwriters of rare quality who know how to get the place singing.......

2 July        JOHN & DI CULLEN
6 Aug        BOB LEWIS
3 Sept        SKYNFLYNT

and

1st October TOM BLISS..............

Be good to see any new Catters there- we try to squeeze in as many singers as we possibly can... and (when they remember to order some) it's a good pint...

oooh

My daughter & son in law live in Tonbridge..

Perhaps one time Im staying I can come along.

Is it all guests or is there a sesson too?

I play guitar and concertina, and when the other musicians have had enough Guinness they let me sing:) (mainly Irish music)

There is a wonderful looking Irish pub in Tunbridge Wells. It would be ideal for a session, but they only seem to have one on Paddys Night.

Nellies itself is just guests, who usually do 2x35 ish plus as many floor singers as we can fit in, so yes, you'll be very welcome, fliss.

The Beacon in (just outside Tunbridge Wells) has a guest night usually on the 2nd Monday and a singers' night on the 4th Monday, and locally Travelling Folk (on the Beehive I think ) have sessions on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month at different places, so there's a bit of something for everyone.

be good to see you!

As this is a Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells thread. If anyone sees Gordon Newton, can they tell him about The Tone Deaf Leopard CD launch at Orpington Friday Folk on Good Friday.

Thanks

Sue

Fiona Larcombe comes very highly recommended. I knew her as a babe in arms and she comes from a wonderful family of singers and musicians in their own right. excellent performer and a very lovely lady.

In Tonbridge at the min, supposed to be doing the garden for my daughter n Son-in-law but its piddling down.

Experienced the joys, not, of Sevenoaks tip on Saturday, have my minibus full with the next load, so guess what Im doing today... and we dont fit under the barrier... recycling used to be fun:)

Just checked this thread hoping the Folk evening was tonight and Ive driven past the Ivy House... ah well, will have to see if the kids know where THe Beacon is.
