Subject: Busking in a trashcan From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 31 Jul 08 - 08:41 AM Saw an article in a London freesheet about a busker in Cambridge who surprised passers-by when they heard music coming from a council rubbish bin in the street. Allegedly he said to a mate: "that bin is so large I could get in it" Mate dared him , when he found he could and get most of his guitar in he started busking, though his left arm and guitsr neck do stickout of the rubbish slot (photos in the paper showed startled passers-by and showed him in action. |
Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: Dave Hanson Date: 31 Jul 08 - 08:47 AM I can think of a few singers that belong in trash cans. eric |

Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: GUEST,Jack Campin (cookieless in Transylvania) Date: 31 Jul 08 - 10:02 AM There is an anecdote in Paul Feyerabend's autobiography about his mad cousin who lived (c.1920) in a skip (dumpster in American), where he played the accordion and emerged occasionally to rape women who passed by. |
Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 31 Jul 08 - 12:42 PM 'Saw an article in a London freesheet...' Was that freesheet dated April 1st, by any chance? Because I think the story is a joke. There's a skip near a garden where I volunteer, and nobody could stand the smell of the thing for more than a few minutes, no matter how much it reverberates. |
Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 31 Jul 08 - 07:14 PM No joke. Or rather, itis a joke, but a true one. Some friends ran into the bloke on a visit to Cambridge this week - and they'd been reading about it in the paper on the way there! He's called Charles Cavey, and here is a picture. |
Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: cptsnapper Date: 01 Aug 08 - 12:26 AM I saw him yesterday, or rather I saw the end of the guitar sticking out and heard him performing! |
Subject: RE: Busking in a trashcan From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 01 Aug 08 - 11:23 AM I would never have believed it, but if McGrath of Harlow says it's true, then it must be. Ahem. |
