Subject: Another Thank You From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 20 Apr 00 - 11:46 AM To all those who answered the creep in the Sad Songs thread about terrorism - thanks for all the kind thoughts. Of course I refer to Thread Creep, for those of you who thought otherwise... And especially to Mbo, as I garnered all KINDS of helpful info from your info; I found a site for the Beirut Memorial, have now corresponded with someone who helps run it, with someone who survived the bombing that killed Dad, and with the widow of someone who didn't. Opened a HUGE can with many many worms. My sisters are getting involved. The memorial you mentioned is, in fact, a military one, but I think we are going to try to get a more general one for ALL American victims of international terrorism. I am thinking of a statute of a rescue worker with dog, the dates of all terrorist attacks on Americans overseas (or in the air, as in the Lockerbie flight)and space around the base to keep adding dates. As we surely will need to. It bothers all of us that in April, all kinds of mass death dates pass with remembrances, and never, anywhere, is the April bombing of the US Embassy in Beirut mentioned or remembered. Anyway, I saw the other Thank You thread, which seemed nice. So thanks, all. I'm really glad I joined the Mudcat. Not that you can tell I've joined since I have no cookie at work so I show up as Guest half the time... but you know... |

Subject: RE: Another Thank You From: mjm Date: 20 Apr 00 - 11:58 AM Guest Mrr, I'm sorry for your immeasurable loss and for your pain. I cannot I cannot imagine losing my father by any means, (I'm not ready yet) let alone by the hand of hatred. My heart hurts for you. Much light and love to you in the healing process. m |

Subject: RE: Another Thank You From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 20 Apr 00 - 12:08 PM Hey, mjm, it HAS been 17 years. It still sucks, but it ain't the raw wound it was... so don't hurt. Think, instead. Lobby your congress. And so on. But more importantly, next April, remember. |

Thank you for posting this thread and for what is obvously a labour of love and remembrance. I don't think the loss of a parent is something we ever truly get over. katlaughing |
