I have been reading the MP3.com changes etc.. with great interest, because we will soon have an album on the site. one thing I was curious about. When high earnings show at the top of the page, is there any way to tell how long the artist has been featured there?

Cheers

D

No, and that is one of the problems with mp3.com

It's ok for me, because I've had stuff up since october and not earned a penny in P4P until they changed the formulas. So this month I've earned a bit. But I have a hard time taking it seriously.

Jande started earning in the first few days, before the new formulas, (which means her success is more real,) and she is going strong.

My music isn't in one of the popular genres, though, and I find it harder to promote myself than to promote her, you know?

So, Deni, look up the "mudcatters on mp3.com" thread, and put your link there!

Actually, I have found stats on how long an artist has been there by going to one of their stations (created by that artist) and looking at the info on the artist (it gives a start date). But, not all artists have stations. There is also a way to look at break-downs day to day, by using the formula at the following link and putting in the artist id number (obtainable from their calendar URL). So, using this tool, you can put different dates in the url for stats and see how far back it goes. How to Get Daily Activity Logs for Any Artist

Considering that it costs several thousand dollars just for a one page ad in an illustration sourcebook to market my illustrations (published once a year), the $20 a month with the amount of control I have over the mp3.com page seems like a real bargain to be able to reach people with music. I just wish mp3.com would get rid of the gimmicks like auctions and be more sraightforward about what they offer.

Well, if you are IN the US, then $20 USD per month is a reasonable amount. But mp3.com is international... and US dollars are a lot of money to the rest of the world.

I'll certainly post my url one day, but in the meantime I've followed your link to mudcatters on MP3.com. This makes it a lot easier. Thanks for the link hesperis. I've looked for a few mudcatters in my clumsy time-consuming way and found the whole experience very frustrating to a novice. I'm about to go through them methodically until my eyeballs boil from staring at the screen. So far I've heard a couple and was very impressed. I've downloaded Whorticulture, but haven't listened to the track yet. I wouldn't have listened to them if I hadn't seen them mentioned here, purely because of their name, it doesn't sound folkie, but from the info, theirs sounds like just the sort of music I enjoy. I've also downloaded the Guinevere song, was it Sandra Parker? and a couple of other things that sound right up my street. Doesn't it take ages? Luckily i've got some free time for a couple of weeks, so I'll try to download as much as I can.

Love & luck

Deni

Hi, Deni, if you go to the two stations I set up with Mudcat members, you should find there at least one track from each Mudcatter who let me know of their page.

The Wild Bird's Nest

Mudcat Music II

Let me know when you have your mp3.com page going, so I can add you to the station. Just send me a personal message, or post to the mp3 Mudcat thread.
