From: GUEST,Need Song Title To Sleep

Hi everyone:

Happy weekend. Could somebody please give me a title to a blues song that had the following lyrics on the cover version:

Messin' round all the time. Please stop messin' round baby. Messin' round with others. Stop messin' round. Stop messin' over my head, till my face was cherry red. If you don't stop messin' baby make me so hot I'll fall off the bed. Merssing' over my head and messin' with my heart.

Thank you for your time and be well.

Lyr. Add: STOP MESSIN' AROUND
Lyrics by Peter Green

Oh, Baby please stop messing around.
You're messin' around with my heart.
Baby, please stop messin' around.
You're messin' around with my heart.
And if you don't stop messin' baby,
Pretty soon we're gonna have to part.

Oh, baby please stop messin' around.
You're messin' around all the time.
Baby please stop messin' around.
And if you don't stop messin' baby,
You're gonna be someone else's baby, not mine.

Squeeze me baby till my face turn cherry red.
Roll me so hard, I'll fall right out of bed.
Please stop messin' around.
You're messin' around all the time.
If you don't stop messin' baby,
You're gonna be someone else's baby, not mine.

Squeeze me baby till my face turn cherry red.
Roll me so hard, I'm gonna fall right out of bed.
Please stop messin' around.
You're messin' around all the time.
If you don't stop messin' baby,
You're gonna be someone else's baby, not mine.

This came from a lyrics website with Gary Moore's version, but I hesitate to give the address since my computer warns me of possible virus.

Hi Q:

Thank you so much you are a genius!!

Now I can sleep for the first time in 2 days!! If I don't have a correct song title, all is evil with the world.

Now you made it a great place.

You learn something new everyday. I thought listening to the cover version that it was a traditional blues tune from many years back. If Peter Green wrote the song either pre Fleetwood Mac or during, it had to be in the 60's.

You have a terrific weekend and you are a pure genius.

Be well and thank you,
KEN

Ken, I haven't checked to see if there are other, or earlier versions. There are other mudcatters who know these blues much better than I do. Maybe one can add some information.

Hi again Q:

It would be interesting to know some of the other versions of the song. My situation started because the former bass player of Jefferson Airplane and always Hot Tuna bass player Jack Casady in 2003 had a concert to help promote a solo CD. For the encore the band played the song you were kind enough to give me the title.

Peter Green certainly would have been a contemporary of Jack Casady. His professional career with the Airplane started in 1965 and during Peter's time in Fleetwood Mac, the Airplane was one of the key American bands.

You were amazing with your help,
Thanks
