If anyone can get hold of the following it is a goldmine of lyrics though no doubt long out of print: Silber, Fred & Silber, Irwin; Folksinger's wordbook Oak Pubs 1973 Has over a thousand lyrics and chords, my usual first port of call before looking on the DT. Includes blues and some spirituals.

PS Just checked on Amazon.co.uk, amazingly,this edition is still in print in US. UK price quoted around œ20 sterling(it was much cheaper in the '70s when I bought it!)

Folksingers Wordbook used to hold the place that Rise Up Singing does now in singing circles. The Best's IOCA Song Fest held the place before that, I am told. Folksingers Wordbook used to be "the bible" so when RUS came out in the 70s, FW became the Old Testament and RUS the New. I definately prefer FW.

Thanks, Susan, I'll look out for RUS, which is also still in print.If they complement each other so well I clearly need both.

Thanks again Susan for putting me on to RUS. I've now got a copy and it complements my other sources, as I'm not a folk specialist its wide range is excellent for my purposes.

Help! I need the lyrics to "Philadelphia Lawyer" and it's not in my favorite, Folksingers Wordbook.

Hi, Anon. The words are in the Digital Tradition database. You can get to them by typing

[philadelphia lawyer]

in the space at top right of this thread, where it says "Search the Digital Tradition Database."

When you're looking for lyrics, try searching the database first. Then, if no luck, start a new thread with the name of the song or a phrase, for example:

Lyrics? Home Sweet Home

Don't use quotes in thread names because they cause problems. Good luck!
