Back to the Camping...

Bookings for the temporary campsite are now being taken during Whitby Folk Week. The site is at the Whitby Community College, close to the town centre, and is being run by Moor & Coast Festival. Open Friday 18th till Saturday 26th August.

Rates are Campers/Caravans Pitch fee £10 per night plus Camping fee £2 per night per person.

Tents Pitch fee £8 per night plus Camping fee £2 per night per person

Dogs allowed on site under supervision @ £1 pdpn

Minimum booking of 3 nights.

It seems this subject is now moribund (nobody's interested) which I find rather strange as I was in Whitby over the weekend and a totally unreliable source informed me that the Bunny Girls Old Girls Association   had somehow heard that pets were welcome and have made a block application to the honourable Glen for the whole week!

Could this be the rebirth of Fluffy Morris? Derek Elliott would certainly be interested in offering advise and coaching, having starred in the original production in the early eighties (that's 1980s despite what a lot of people think!)

Seriously, Community College site is well worth the brass. Overall its a better site than Stakesby School which is (well, I assume it still is) the Festival Official site.

Regarding hamsters:

I think it depends whether you have them boiled or fried or done in breadcrumbs or batter!

I thought Lord Glen Rogers said there was no food on site? If there is do they do hedgehog pie and badger steaks?

The Temporary Campsite (run by Moor & Coast Festival)is no more expensive that other sites in the area. We provide a campsite with good clean indoor facilities on a great location. We had the oppotunity to use this site after talking to Malc (Whitby Folk Week) and we thought it would be a great idea to have it as a campsite.

Many people camped at Stoup Cross but that no longer is an option. There is a critical shortage of pitches available for tents, we are trying to provide an alternative...

Just to put the record straight, Moor & Coast Festival is a not for profit organisation. Funds raised from this will be put back into bringing music, song, dance and arts into Whitby and the rural area... No one takes a cut!!!

The festival's Stakesby School site is cheaper than the M&C one at the Community College - but only available if you have a season ticket for the festival.

I think that Stakesby is a better location, though it is a bit smaller each year. The comparison is a bit daft, though. Chances are that both will be full, particularly as there is almost nowhere else you can pitch a tent.

There is going to be a questionnaire about camping for the festival this year - it'd be great if everyone gave their opinions.

Just got back from Whitby last night, we stayed at the community college site (Moor & Coast). A great site with good facilities and decent folks running the show.

We'll be back there next year.
