well, I suppose I could in theory bring a fiddle. I was planning on bringing a banjo and mandolin, which others are welcome to use. Carrying 3 instruments is a bit of a stretch, but I've done it before and will no doubt do it again. Put it this way: are you definitely coming?

Don't worry, I'll try and remember to bring one in, but thanks anyway Matt.
Trouble is, on the few occasions I have done this before, having slipped back into usual automatic-commuter-zombie mode I have been known to leave my fiddle on the train. Fortunately due to a lot of luck and having some personal contacts with railway staff I have managed to retrieve them again, but I'm sure my luck will run out at some point.
Maybe I'll just stick to unaccomplished singing.

Well I feel like an intrepid explorer having survived the trials of two cancelled trains, wind and rain, yomping over the sodden (sodding?) ground with my various packs of life support and guitar strapped fore and aft...

...but all present and correct, suh!

I meant to bring a few tambourines and shakers, as I often think percussion's sorely lacking at sessions. Then clean forgot.

I'll be there around five past. I have a banjo. I have a cheap Ashbury resonator mandolin. It's gonna be fun.

I'm intrigued ... the first posting suggested that this was an early evening singaround. And yet at the end we have talk about bringing tambourines, percussion and shakers - doesn't sound like any singaround I've ever been to.Nevertheless, hope it went well for you!

Thanks for that, Terry. Yes - great fun indeed. We had a maximum of 13 people - 11 singers and two non-combatants - in the room and a great mix of material and styles. Loads of choruses, great banter.

And the venue is perfect. Just the right size, cosy enough but plenty of room to not be bashing instruments on hard objects. Plenty of chairs with no arms, too, for instrumental convenience! Nice and quiet, great acoustics. Beer was indeed superb.

And the main objective - that of spending enough behind the bar to make sure we'll be welcomed back - was achieved due in no small part to Woodsie and Peter ;-)

So, yes, a more than promising intial foray and I'm looking forward to another early in the new year.

Nice to meet you last night when I dropped by unexpectedly. Pity I was second one there after Hamish - the look of surprise on his face was a picture and you all missed it!.

Just sorry I could only stay the hour before heading back to deepest, darkest Lincolnshire. Still, was home by 11.15pm which was earlier than I'd thought possible.

Hope it keeps going.

Well, Stallion, the quick answer is this: dunno.

They won't be as often as weekly. They'll be at least monthly. It depends on a number of imponderables. Like the state of the pub's diary (football and other private functions and whatever) and the state of my diary (unless someone else(s) want to share the responsibility of the not very onerous tasks involved in liaising with the pub and being there to kick proceedings off.)

We haven't necessarily settled on a day of the week, although Mondays look favourite because of football (they don't have Sky who do Monday matches)

I sort of have my eye on Monday 11th January for the next one.

Well done to Hamish for organising the event it was a great evening in a great little pub with friendly bar staff.
I even got a free pint at the end of the night, Now that is a rare thing a free pint.
It was good to see everyone and to meet new folk, Excellent singers/players. well done.
I hope this venue continues into the New Year and that more folk attend.
Finally it was good to see the night out with Leadfingers, Woodsie and Co who stayed and kept us company right through to closing time.
