Subject: Obit: Nick Scaife (Raggytash) From: Dave the Gnome Date: 18 Apr 26 - 10:12 AM I am greatly saddened to announce Nick's passing. He was a good friend who I will miss dearly. He was originally from the same neck of the woods as me and we used to go to the same clubs and concerts until he left the area. He eventually settled in Whitby where we used to meet quite often. More recently his love of music, and of all things Irish, took him to the west of Ireland where he spent most of his time, popping back to England for various festivals and events. Great performer of folk music with a huge repertoire and all round good guy. He will be greatly missed in Lancashire, Yorkshire and County Galway but more so by his loving wife, Christine, and the rest of his family. Rest in Peace, pal. See you in the big singaround up there but not to soon eh ;-) Death notice from the funeral directors |

Subject: RE: Obit: Nick Scaife (Raggytash) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 18 Apr 26 - 10:29 AM Awww. Thanks for posting that, Dave. What a wonderful setup, to be able to travel to and from music venues around the UK and Ireland. An announcement with the image is kind of like seeing a photo of a radio personality for the first time - here at Mudcat we recognize his "fist" - his writing style - but I hadn't visualized what he really looked like. Please share more if a standard obituary is published. Raggytash logged on posts and Guest,Raggytash posts. |

Subject: RE: 2026 Obit: Nick Scaife (Raggytash) From: Dave the Gnome Date: 18 Apr 26 - 12:37 PM Christine told me that the type of announcment linked is traditional in Ireland and Nick would have loved it. I will watch out for an obituary. I lost track of him for a while betweek leaving Eccles and arriving in Whitby so it's good to know he was in West Yorkshire for a while - Thanks Ray. |

Subject: RE: 2026 Obit: Nick Scaife (Raggytash) From: GUEST,Steve Shaw Date: 18 Apr 26 - 05:33 PM Nick and I had many a banter online, mostly privately. He was one of the most straightforward, amusing and honest chaps you could ever wish to meet and our common love of music bound us together. He stands alone for me as the only member of Mudcat that I've ever met in person (over a few pints, of course!), along with his lovely wife Christine, and that was a meeting I'll always cherish. If there does happen to be a choir of angels, he'll be up there educatin' 'em! |

Many condolences to Christine and his family and close friends RIP |
