Asked about the flute man a while back and got an answer, thanks for that. Now asking about a guitar tune, this one also sounds vaguely familiar but can't figure it out, help wanted

GUEST,emmettfriar, I listened to the tune but I found it difficult to hear a distinct melody. I could hear a rhythmic pattern which reminded me of Latin American music.

Is this tune from an animated computer game like your last musical mystery request? Tune Req: What is the flute man playing?

Could you give us some more information about the tune and how you heard it, please?

This song just came into my head:

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from the movie Mary Poppins. (The song starts at 30 seconds into the video.)

It has a repetitive melody with the funny break "um diddle um diddle um diddle ay".

It may not be the song you are looking for, but sometimes my brain goes off on a strange tangent in an effort to solve the puzzle.

Unfortunately don't remember where it's from, just found the audio file on my PC, it was in a folder with a bunch of other trad tunes played on various instruments

Most of others either had names already or I could figure out myself, but this one's the only one I don't know

Thanks for the info. Maybe someone else here will recognise it.

Just to explain, the repetitious notes of the guitar music reminded me of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - sheet music

When I played music with my friends on Celtic harp I mostly played the accompaniment to their melody instruments, i.e. chords and rhythm. The notes of the supercali.. song remind me very much of that type of accompaniment and lines 1, 2 and 5 of the music notation go up and down between a very small number of notes. Your guitar piece has a similar sound to me. I really do have trouble isolating a melody from the guitar piece.

I pick up the "reminded me of Latin American music" Helen noted. For me ... It is the chord at the end of the phrases. There are dozens of tune ID places. They even work in a crowded bar from your phone:

Good suggestion, gargoyle. My Hubby just tried one of those apps on his phone and the response was, "this is tough", then "no match found".

It just sounds to me like the rhythmic background parts of a song or tune, without the actual melody.

And, gargoyle if your comment "Obnoxious Earworm" refers to the Supercalif... song I totally agree. LOL

If that is the song and if the sound clip was in a computer/video game then I suspect the game creators were having a great big laugh, infecting the players with an earworm, a brain virus which is really difficult to eliminate.

.... and therefore unshackled by copyright; but if you know said melody, *that*'s the earworm.

I understand that one can copyright the words, the melody, and the performance, but not the chord sequence. There's an infamous jazz track somewhere-or-other, where the band were supposed to be riffing on the acccompaniment to a known tune to avoid having to pay copyright, but accidentally started playing the melody. The band leader (or a manager) can be heard saying "stop, stop" .... I'm surprised that the fragment of melody survived into the recording as published.
