why is it so hars to sign up for membership? type in name type in code word dead-end!!! what gives?

Welcome, Chuck,

At the top of the web page, click on membership. There's a clicky-thing to become a new member (if I recall). Fill in the required fields, submit, follow the prompts. If one codename doesn't work try another, maybe the one you entered is already taken. You can always change it any time after you join.
