Subject: Lyr Add: ALL THE WAYS YOU WANDER (John Spillane) From: Jim Dixon Date: 14 Sep 02 - 01:02 AM Yes, John Spillane has a web site, which is where I found these lyrics: http://www.johnspillane.ie/inlyrics2.htm ALL THE WAYS YOU WANDER (John Spillane) All the ways you wander, all the ways you roam, All across great oceans, all across the foam, Through the faraway houses, through the sunsets on fire, Searching for the island of your heart's desire, Where the sun is always shining and the oranges grow on the trees, You only have to wait two seconds there for every thing you please. In a garden of daisies, in a circle of light, Searching for the island of your heart's delight, I'll wait for you, like a true friend. I'll wait for you, till the very end. And if you take the long way, if you take the long way home, Down where the magicians and the dreamers roam, Through the mountains of morning, through the valleys of night, Searching for the island of your hearts delight, I'll wait for you, like a true friend. I'll wait for you, till the very end, All the ways you wander, all the ways you roam, All across great oceans, all across the foam, Through the faraway houses, through the sunsets on fire, Searching for the island of your heart's desire. [As recorded by John Spillane on "The Wells of the World," and on "Will We Be Brilliant or What?" 2002. It has also been recorded by Nomos on "All the Ways That You Wander," 1995; and on "I Won't Be Afraid Any More," 1996; also by Brooks Williams on "Hundred Year Old Shadow," 1999; and by Máire Ní Chéilleachair on "Guth Ar Fan", 1999.] |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: John Spillane's lyrics From: Fergie Date: 30 Jan 04 - 10:16 PM My son (21years)has taken a shine to this song, and has asked me to find the "tabs", now I'm a bit lost with this tablature thing, I learned to play guitar when Bob Dylan was a boy and like him I learned the Three chord trick (mainly to impress the chicks) ah I was young and knew no better, but in truth those three chords have served me well. My son David however shows a potential for much more, he can get his fingers around the fretboard ala Carlos Santana and he shows much distain for the three chord trick. But if he wants to learn a "traditional" type song I'm heartened, (it's definitely a stepup from Oasis) so Mudcatters help me to find those tabs and play a part in the development of a budding folksinger to be. signed a greatful father Fergus |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All the Ways You Wander (John Spillane) From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Aug 20 - 05:12 PM Another John Spillane song: Passage West (John Spillane) I met my love in Passage west The sun was sinking down to rest The river to the stars confessed "Twas the dark haired woman I loved best We wandered down by the Chapel Square And there was magic in the air And Mother Nature gently pressed The burning river to her breast I offered her a golden ring My hand, my heart and everything I offered her a sweet love nest By the flowing banks of Passage West Chorus; Oh love will you go, will you go, will you go? Or love will you stay, will you stay, will you stay? x2 We watched the ferry come and go We watched the river ebb and flow The tide breathe in, the tide breathe out We watched the Passage flowers grow The ghostly forms of the hungry years In sad procession did appear With hope and sorrow made their way For their passage west to Amerikay Chorus The famine queen stood tall and proud On either bank the people bowed From Passage West came a Fenian yell Rule Brittania, rule in hell! The grass grows green on the other side And mighty ships sail out the tide To far flung harbours across the sea Far away from Passage, my love and me |
