Subject: Johnny Jump-Up From: GUEST,faedreambeliever@aol.com Date: 10 Jan 02 - 07:11 AM I am trying to get together some music for a Handfasting. (yes, mine.) I heard this song at a Renaissance Festival and we both fell in love with it. It was our first thing like that together and I finally found words, but I have NO idea how to go about finding a recording of this to either play or teach to other people. (We only remember the tune to the chorus). Can anyone help? Please e-mail me. Thanks Gladys |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Johnny Jump-Up From: michaelr Date: 11 Jan 02 - 08:11 PM I recorded this song with my band, Greenhouse, on our CD "Shelter Cove". Available at cdstreet.com. Great song from Cork balladeer, Jimmy Crowley. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Johnny Jump-Up From: Nerd Date: 12 Jan 02 - 03:58 AM It's on Jimmy Crowley's album, Uncorked, but with a weird twist: Jimmy heard the song from the author, tadhg Jordan, years ago, and started singing it with Stoker's Lodge. The version now generally popular is the one Jimmy sang. But years later he discovered he'd been singing it wrong. So Uncorked has a different set of words from the popular one--and I like the popular set better. Still, the tune is the same. I first heard it from Christy Moore, and you can probably find an old LP if you just need to hear the tune...
