Subject: Woods Tea Company? From: John Hardly Date: 11 Sep 02 - 09:44 AM I just got my new Dirty Linen and contained therein is an ad for a new Woods Tea Co. CD. It sounded too familiar and though I've done the search here I can't find the mudcat connection with this group. Any help? |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Sorcha Date: 11 Sep 02 - 10:16 AM They've been around quite a while, probably with personel changes and they are from Vermont........ |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Jim Krause Date: 11 Sep 02 - 11:23 AM I saw them once at Silver Dollar City. I thought they were very good. Jim |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: John Hardly Date: 11 Sep 02 - 06:53 PM Thanks for the replies. I thought I had remembered (mistakenly as it turns out) that one of their members was a mudcatter. |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Sep 02 - 07:26 PM http://woodstea.net/ is the Website of this group. I haven't seen them live, but I sure like their recordings. They do a great job on Foolish Questions - and they do well on more serious stuff, too. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Sorcha Date: 11 Sep 02 - 08:44 PM When I saw them (admittedly several years ago) I thought they were boring. Maybe they have changed since then. Every song/tune sounded just like the other songs/tunes. |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Nerd Date: 12 Sep 02 - 12:49 AM I've seen them many times (Burlington first night has become a tradition with us). They're not groundbreaking, but they're solid and fun. |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Midchuck Date: 12 Sep 02 - 08:59 AM Every song/tune sounded just like the other songs/tunes. Is that intended as a criticism? Isn't that pretty much a prerequisite for commercial success in music today? Have you given a listen to a few of the Sensitive Young Singer-Songwriters? P. |
Subject: RE: Woods Tea Company? From: Allan C. Date: 24 Aug 05 - 09:17 AM These guys seem to me to be a well kept secret. I had never heard of them until yesterday when I found their music available on Live365. Their style is what I have often called "uptown folk" but do deliver a consistently high quality sound along with a rather broad repertoire. If the cuts I've heard from their "live" album are any indication, they probably put on a rather good show. In another thread they were mentioned in the same breath as The Kingston Trio. I can understand why. It surprises me that I've not heard of them before now. Frankly, I like them a lot. |
