Yep, another one. Just saw the following in a newsgroup and am passing it on. If you get this email, don't fall for it:

Something is wrong here. A whois gives the site owner's address and name. Although it could easily be fake, It's in New Jersey which, I think, would make it a federal crime.ie. mandatory jail time.It IS suspisious that he's located on Ascension Island.

This is a weird one. EBay.com or EBay.ca takes you through a series of their forms to make changes, register, etc., then emails you a confirmation number which you have to send back to make the changes take effect. Anyone who has registered or changed data recently should know this, and go back to the Services-My Ebay boxes to check their registration data.
Has anyone looked at ebay.ac to see what comes up? Unsure of my virus protection at the moment or I would take a look (OK, so curiosity kills etc.).

I'm getting ready to put some instruments on ebay, so I'm not just idly curious, but I really don't understand this.

Everyone who falls for ths rather blatant scam will be asked for his credit card number as part of this "resubmission."

GUEST has advised well. If you can send anything to eBay without going through a series of checks, it isn't the real eBay -- Tom

EBay never asks for credit card or bank information.
Michaelr, there is no problem here with EBay. The joker here is the dot ac termination, which sends your missive to the island of Ascension, as mesophist pointed out, rather than to the real EBay.
I thought of sending a "heads-up" to the island administrator, but my Email address was asked for. I have no way of knowing if the site is secure or not.

Thanks for suggesting some one check www.ebay.ac. I feel stupid for missing that. The site is either inactive or down tonight. Still moot.
