Be glad for the song really does have no ending.

Arriving at the Picture Playhouse, Beverley on Thursday evening for the Incredible String Band gig I was fully expecting that it would be me and maybe five other saddoes in the audience. Walked in the door at 7.40pm for an eight O'Clock start and was greeted personally by Robin Williamson who was walking around talking to the full house crowd as if we were long lost family (which of course we are).

The gig was fairly low key with Robin doing most of the talking and Mike & Clive saying very little. Some of the numbers were a bit wobbly but, as they got into their stride, the music started to flow and it worked.

I'm glad that I went - it was worth the £15 and many old favourites were played alongside some that I'd never heard before.

May the longtime Sunshine etc.

R

Wow Nice to find ;you!, I'm In Australia near Byron Bay. Here we are celebrating 30 years since the Aquarius Festival. Apparently my research shows a song by the incredible string band that goes "may the long time sunshine upon you". I need to find the name of this song, words and melody to teach the children at a local school for an inter-school performance... would you be able to help me out?
thanks Camilla

The words that you refer to are the coda at the end of a long (12 minutes+)song called "A very cellular song". This may be found on the 1968 album The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter and was the last track on side one of the original vinyl disc - now it is track 4 on the CD.

Essentially it is a three chord trick that would be, say, D,G,A,D,G,A or whatever for the key you are in. The words are:

"(D)May the long time (G)sun shine on (A)you, all love (D)surround you, and the clear light (G)within you (A)guide you all the way (D)on" repeated endlessly to the fade.

Hope this helps
Roger

Roger

Hi Roger & Guest
I believe it is "---PURE light within you--"
