Subject: RE: lYRICS REQUIRED - The Skyline of Skye From: Jim McLean Date: 15 May 04 - 01:02 PM I don't know where you live but you could try Biggar's in Glasgow. They have a web site www.biggars.co.uk and an email with your requirements would bring an answer. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Skyline of Skye From: Jim Dixon Date: 17 May 04 - 08:11 AM AMG - All Music Guide lists 2 recordings of SKYLINE OF SKYE: Bill & Ray, "Tartan Lads of Bonnie Scotland," Scotdisc CD 540, 1995. Sung by Kathie Kay on various-artists' "This Is Scotland, Vol. 2," Scotdisc CD 354, 1995. I found another here: Sung by Calum Kennedy in 1958, on the various-artists compilation "The World of Scotland," Decca 466353, 1999. This last one is still in print and being offered at a reasonable price. Authorship is attributed to Heneker & Ross. |

Subject: Lyr Add: THE SKYLINE OF SKYE (Heneker/Ross) From: Jim Dixon Date: 23 Jan 12 - 09:33 PM THE SKYLINE OF SKYE Written by David Heneker and David Ross ©1959 As sung by Calum Kennedy on "The World of Scotland" (1999) The islands are calling me back home again And I long for the skyline of Skye. A lassie is waiting, sweet flow'r of the glen, 'Neath the beautiful skyline of Skye. I left her one springtime; oh, I loved her so! The blue mountains whispered, "You're foolish to go." As I sailed with the tide, something died here inside. How I cried for the skyline of Skye! In mem'ry I'm hearing the ghost of her tune That keeps haunting my heart with a sigh. It tells of her parting that sad afternoon. It's the song of the skyline of Skye. The road to the islands comes down to the sea, And that's where my love will be waiting for me, And together we'll stay till we're both old and grey 'Neath the beautiful skyline of Skye. [Also sung by Clifford Hughes on "A Song for You" (1987) and by Alexander Morrison on "Scottish Collection" (1996).] |
