I heard this song on a T.V.documentary about the building of the Empire State Building. The Mayor of New York at the time sang it in the documentary. Exceptionally well, too! It was his favourite song.
I remember a few lines and I'll post them below. Does anyone know the words to the rest of the song or have any other info, on it?
It's such a marvellous tune!

               Boys and girls together
               Me and Molly O'Rourke
               We tripped the light fantastic
On the sidewalks of New York

I also vote for "Mamie," not "Molly."

It's "Mamie" without a doubt. This was one of the first songs I learned from my Dad and I remember how much I loved the fuss my grandmother, Mamie, would make when we sang it to her, literally,on he sidewalks of New York!
