Albertina (from George Herbert of West Geelong, Australia.
          collected by Barry Finn,1979)

They are building a ship in the northlands
Albertina they will call her when she's done….pump away

CH: Albertina, she will serve us, Albertina will preserve us,
Albertina they will call her when she's done….pump away

They say that she is ready & waiting
She's loaded doen with golden ale & wine….pump away

They say that's is ready & waiting
To take us all around the Horn

They say she lies waiting at anchor
To take us or'e the bounding main

They say that there's a sailors grave a waiting
Beneath the ocean wide & blue

On the shore there are many hearts a weeping
As we sail into the harbor safe & snug.

Barry

Thought so, you also roast a pretty mean turkey.

You remember Chris & Mike from the sound crew - that's us. :)

I'll be posting details for this year's festival - hope to see you there. the Mystic "family" reunion.

Barry, I look forward to hearing this sometime. I think it may be one I was looking for a few years ago.

Barry-

Seems to be some kind of typo in the third verse:

They say that's is ready & waiting
To take us all around the Horn

Could you clarify?

What's the tune like? And what can you tell us about George Herbert?

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Sorry "They say that she is ready & waiting".

Hi Chris & Mike, yes & good. I'll be seeing you this year then.

You may have heard me sing this Jeri, but it's not one I do often, I don't know of anyone one else that does it though. Next time ask me (ya know I'll forget otherwise) be happy to do it for you.
Charlie about George Herbert.
I we met will I was lending a hand on a restoration in 79. He was a Cape Horner in his younger days. But it'd probably need a thread if you'd want?

Hi Eric
I believe that the last verse was missing before. I had a few tapes of George, the first few was of a party in the hold of a brig & the 2nd few he sent 15yrs later. This was from the 2nd few which I just recently reviewed after setting up my antique tape player. I'm planning on recording & wanted to include some of the songs I got from George & came up with more than what I remembered. I also came up with a complete(I think) Cook On A Bark), When My Spell Is Over, Good Ol Brig (which was complete) & There Nothing To Equall A Life On The Sea.
Barry
