I did a Google search for "forum most likely to keep responding to trolls" and Mudcat was the top response. I've been here ever since annoying the resident duffers.

I'm sure I found the DT throught a search engine looking for the lyrics to a song (Forget which song, though) used only the DT for about a year or more (intimidated by all the choices, I guess)... then scrolled down to see what sort of stuff was in the lower half of the page.

Found a BS thread for a recipe for Kaluha Chocolate Chip cookies, and said to myself: "Damn! These are folks I want to hang out with!"

And I haven't left, since...

Dani coerced me (bless her!) into going to last year's Getaway. She had talked about the usefulness of this site for awhile but I just hadn't checked it out. After meeting the Catter's that were at the Getaway I logged on and then joined. I mostly research and lurk.

I was in a singing class at Irish Arts Week (E. Durham, Ny) last summer, and happened to notice from where our instructor had printed out the lyrics to the song she was teaching. Checked it out when I got home, posted once as a guest, then decided to hang around.

I was at a folk fest in Central Illinois and went looking for an outhouse. I found it. The powers that be there a that good festival had built it over an abandoned coal mine 'cause they were tired of cleaning the old one's innards by shoveling. My aunt Nancy went in there and after an hour we went in to check on her. We found her sitting there dead, apparently asphyxiated. My uncle told me he knew what had gone wrong. It seems Aunt Nancy used to hold her breath until she heard the "splash". As I exited that outhouse, I looked up---and there was Mudcat.

A friend (another guitarist-folkie) referred me here for the DT when I was looking for song lyrics last summer. Once I found the site, I was hooked.

Steve Parkes (long-time Mudcatter) told me about it...and kept telling me about it until I started using it! (I'm glad he did :-)

I wish I could remember how I discovered the Mudcat. Looking back, it seems I first posted (and MISposted!) in February of '97. Hard to believe!

Though I don't remember how I found it, I do remember my husband telling me how cool the Internet was, and how if I'd just try it, I'd see. Didn't imagine there was anything out there to interest me ; )

So now, I'm as plugged in, hooked up, and wired as they come! And have treasured this community and this resource for over five years!
