Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 07 Mar 12 - 07:52 PM I just ordered mine & eagerly await details of your next project sandra |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,999 Date: 07 Mar 12 - 08:06 PM LOL Kendall, I'm in for two. However, please let Jacqui know it's gonna be about ten days, so wait to do the CDs on my behalf. What I would love to hear/read is you talking about your life in music. I have had the pleasure and honour of listening to your music and choice of songs for about seven or eight years now. You're a gruff old sob, but you have class. And timing. I will admit that although you do not have the best singing voice I ever heard, and although you choose songs I wouldn't necessarily have chosen, you are truly great, because you trust and believe in the songs you do. I love your work, and because of that, I think you'd best get yer ass off the stove and do the job, else we all will miss a piece of history we should have. I mean that. BM PS I 'borrowed' one of your tales from the book; I mentioned on a few occasions that you wrote the tale. The applause? well, I accepted them on your behalf. I also mentioned you told it half as well as I do. LOL! B |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 07 Mar 12 - 08:22 PM LOL! Sandra, I'm not quite ready to announce my next project in a separate thread, but I'll tell you here that it is a double CD of me reading my book back about 20 years ago. It's renamed from Stories told in the kitchen, which was in print for over 30 years, to MAINE LIES DOWNEAST. I expect the first delivery in about a week. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 07 Mar 12 - 08:25 PM Guest999, I feel a bit silly addressing you like that because I know who you are. Anyway, I've never given that idea any thought but I might consider making a tape just for you. I doubt that it would have broad interest. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Jeri Date: 07 Mar 12 - 08:42 PM I want one! (...and one of the "Diamonds in the Cellar" CD,of course.) Seriously, you sing songs that aren't exclusive to you. The stories you have are uniquely yours. It's not just that no one else can tell them, but no one else even knows them. True, you can't steal them, but you can sure tell a story! You probably have enough so you could put a book together and you won't have to leave things out to make them fit, but it would be worth doing, IMO. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST Date: 07 Mar 12 - 10:37 PM "I might consider making a tape just for you. I doubt that it would have broad interest." Listen up, I'll accept that and when I bootleg 'em, you get half. OK, 99%, but get 'er done. I really respect your work. B |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 08 Mar 12 - 08:10 AM I've had the Devil's own works getting a publisher for the new book of Maine humor. I don't think I have the energy to start another one, especially one of such personal history. I am, however, willing to give it serious thought. Jeri, a free copy of Maine Lies Downeast is on its way to you from Folk Legacy. It's payment for your title. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: jacqui.c Date: 08 Mar 12 - 09:05 AM Spaw - your copy of Diamonds In The Rough will be mailed today. Rest assured that the requisite amount of cursing and grumbling went into the making of the finished package along with blood sweat and tears up to and maybe above the price of the CD. :o) |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Duane D. Date: 08 Mar 12 - 09:43 AM I'm a bit uncomfortable with the "Swan Song" title. I've heard most of your recordings and you don't sound at all like a Swan. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 08 Mar 12 - 12:15 PM No Swan, I now sound more like a Giraffe. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,999 Date: 08 Mar 12 - 02:06 PM They too have seven bones in their necks. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Jeri Date: 08 Mar 12 - 03:22 PM Giraffes just choose not to be vocal, but they sound a little like swans when they are. Neither critter sounds like Kendall. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Jeri Date: 08 Mar 12 - 03:24 PM Giraffe stuff |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Jeri Date: 08 Mar 12 - 03:27 PM Oops...why I originally wanted to post: Thanks for the payment! I wonder if you'll feel the same after enough people ask you what the heck it means. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: gnu Date: 08 Mar 12 - 03:42 PM New project? Leather Jackets and Llama Lore? |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 08 Mar 12 - 08:04 PM Jeri, I promised you a free copy for your suggestion of a title for the new CD. There were many good ones, and we thought yours was the most appropriate."Maine Lies Downeast" does it for me. I guess I'd better make a new thread to end the confusion. Look for FATHER FELL DOWN THE WELL. More Maine humor, this one will be in book form. I'm meeting with the publisher on March 13th. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 08 Mar 12 - 08:16 PM In the BS section. |

Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 12 Mar 12 - 05:42 AM Guest999, Been thinking about your suggestion, and, although I can't imagine why you or anyone would be interested in my musical history, I'm surrounded by things I don't understand! What would be the best way to do this? I could post it here, or make a tape that could be made into a cd by a friend of mine. Suggestions please. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: gnu Date: 12 Mar 12 - 02:22 PM I think it's a great idea and sure many other folks here would like to read it. Allow me to suggest a separate thread, titled appropriately, for ease of future filtering/searches. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: maeve Date: 12 Mar 12 - 11:01 PM Good suggestion, gnu. Here's the new thread: Kendall's Musical History, by Special Request |

Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,olddude Date: 15 Mar 12 - 04:58 PM This CD is priceless to me ... Captain is like family and a music hero. by the way, his version of "fine felt hat" is probably the best I ever heard even by the Clancy Bros Thank you Captain |

Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 17 Mar 12 - 08:14 AM Hey folks, please do me a favor, when you order, tell me if you want both cds or just the new one. I know that some of you already have the I Remember Loving You one. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 17 Mar 12 - 07:01 PM I don't believe this! we just uncovered another half dozen old songs that go back to my dark ages. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 17 Mar 12 - 07:30 PM Among them: Those were the days Break the news to Mother The wee cooper o' Fife Will you love me when I'm old? Return of the lover Swanson, Swenson and Jenson. Abdul a bul bul Amir Duna |

Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: frogprince Date: 18 Mar 12 - 07:13 PM "So... another CD?" "I'm afraid so." From:frogprince - PM Date: 03 Mar 12 - 09:30 PM This is a stolen concept, if I could remember just where I stole it from... "Kendall Morse: First Annual Last CD What did I tell ya? : ) |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 18 Mar 12 - 07:24 PM I haven't decided to release it yet. There were glitches and off hand remarks that I made during that taping, and some in the middle of the song. The writer might not like it. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: kendall Date: 20 Mar 12 - 04:55 PM Would you believe I just came across a recording of a performance I did in 1994? I thought I posted this but can't find it. Some pretty good stuff on this 2 disc CD set. Frozen Logger The Folkie (Rude version) The Basque Last thing on my mind Come by the hills Pipers refrain Rolling Home Big Ellie Mae (a little bit rude) Many off hand remarks and stories too. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: frogprince Date: 21 Mar 12 - 09:24 PM Mine came in the mail this afternoon. I played it while I did some photoshop stuff. Something about it didn't sound quite right, so I played it again. I'm still not sure about it, so I'm gonna hafta play it again soon to figure out what it is. : ) This may not be a studio recording (Kendall was up front about that) but it's more than good enough to enjoy a very nice selection of songs well sung. Love it! Dean |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Rapparee Date: 21 Mar 12 - 09:56 PM How's come I don't have mine? |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 22 Mar 12 - 07:15 AM Have you sent an order? I've only gotten three orders so far. Frog, if there is a problem I'll make it good; just return it for an exchange. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: Charley Noble Date: 22 Mar 12 - 07:47 AM Kendall- "The Basque" certainly tells a compelling story. We certainly hope you manage to salvage something from that old Portland Folk Club recording. You were in fine form that evening. Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: GUEST,kendall Date: 22 Mar 12 - 09:25 AM I do have a copy of that evening, Charlie, and I'm forever indebted to Judy for it. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: frogprince Date: 22 Mar 12 - 11:56 AM Kendall, my attempted humor got a little too dumb. I have relatives who always make banana cream pie when they know I'm coming. I generally take a piece, finish it, and then say "Something about that isn't quite right; I need another piece, to see if I can figure out what's wrong". The pie is always to good to have just one serving. So is your CD. : ) |
Subject: RE: Kendall's final CD From: frogprince Date: 22 Mar 12 - 11:58 AM ...too good.... |
