Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: maeve Date: 04 May 12 - 08:40 AM Oh that will be a lovely night, Adrien! I'd love to meet and hear Emilio, and found Teresa Doyle's website interesting; especially the Children of Bedlam: "The Bedlamb children, ages five to twelve, have a repertoire of over fifty Maritime folk songs. Here are a crop of Island children that can sing for hours at a house party or around a campfire. Now that's something of a rarity in today's hectic computer-oriented world!" (from teresadoyle.com) I'd dearly love to join you. Have a wonderful musical evening! |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 04 May 12 - 03:59 PM Sounds like a terrific night of music. I, too, wish I could be there. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 05 May 12 - 10:49 PM Three songs.... Three standing Ovations at the coffee house last evening. Watch CityTv next Sunday for a great performance and phone number to call and vote. Adrien |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: maeve Date: 13 May 12 - 06:49 AM How did the broadcast go? |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 13 May 12 - 08:08 AM Was neat. All 12 finalist were on and they did a very short performance of about 10 seconds. Well tonight is the night and I'm sure Emilio parents are a bundle of nerves. Best of luck to all. ad. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 13 May 12 - 10:43 PM Holding my breath, waiting to hear. He has done so well! |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: bobad Date: 14 May 12 - 01:41 PM The winner is to be announced tonight at 7:00 o'clock Eastern time. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 May 12 - 05:37 PM Suspense! |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: bobad Date: 14 May 12 - 06:09 PM To clarify my previous post - the program on which the winner will be announced starts at 7:00 PM ET but, knowing how they love to drag things out for dramatic effect, the winner probably won't be announced 'til near the end which is 8:00 PM ET. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 14 May 12 - 06:32 PM Except it looks like the end will be at 9. (Two hour show.) I wish I could watch live. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 14 May 12 - 06:38 PM Oh yeah-- watching a clip from his final performance, I think his next feat should be winning the Canadian "Dancing With the Stars". (Don't tell me there isn't one!) It's a competition, I know, and I hope he wins, but Emilio is a winner, regardless of the outcome of the show. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 May 12 - 06:42 PM Emilio made the front page of our weekly paper here in ormstown. Nice short write up. Less than 20 minutes to go. Ad. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 May 12 - 07:11 PM Well that first 10 minutes was a crock of S..t. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 14 May 12 - 07:42 PM Soooo... 1:15h or so until the end of the show. Come on Emilio! |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 May 12 - 07:49 PM Well...That ends that. Great go Emilio. You brought happiness and a taste of the unexpected to many of us. Next stop will be to the Café Namasthe sometimes in 2013. Unc. Ad. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 14 May 12 - 07:52 PM WTF happened? |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 May 12 - 08:06 PM It is very simple Gnu. He didn't get enough votes. To win the final was determined by the number of votes. Here is a video of Emilio performing in 2007. For those who like opera, enjoy. Adrien http://youtu.be/iQo0qSrRfK8 |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: maeve Date: 14 May 12 - 08:08 PM As Jeri said, "...Emilio is a winner, regardless of the outcome of the show." I expect to hear much more of this gifted singer. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 14 May 12 - 08:36 PM The problem is music is NOT a competition in real life. People don't have only one artist they listen to. Because of the show, lots of people know about Emilio, and hopefully many doors will open to him. So his appearance on the show will likely be a life-changing and career-launching one. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 14 May 12 - 09:28 PM Right on Jeri. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 15 May 12 - 09:26 PM Most of the voters probably don't like opera! |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 15 May 12 - 09:57 PM Well Chantey, I think you are correct to a point. However, I also think this could also be a reason. I think that the groups were more able to produce votes, by sheer numbers. The fact that in schools the teachers try to get as many as possible onto the stage, so that more family will come – I think this applies to Talent Shows as well. All in all I am sure that when the high has leveled off, Emilio will be very satisfied for all the exposure he has received. Ad. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 15 May 12 - 09:59 PM Great picture of Emilio in our local newspaper. Front page. I will look to see if it is on line. The paper is called "The Gleaner" if someone is better at this search stuff than me. ad. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: katlaughing Date: 15 May 12 - 10:55 PM I found the newspaper's website, but it looks as if you have to be subscriber. It's listed with a bunch of other papersHERE. He is on his way up, I am sure. He'll get plenty of calls, etc. He has such a beautiful voice, such poise & passion and that smile that shows up in his eyes even. He has a ton of charisma and such a positive outlook. Enjoy your ride up, Emilio! Who knows, maybe you'll sing in the début of my brother's opera. (though it's tough to get a new work like it done.:-) Anway, I could listen to you sing Puccini every day. katwhowilllsayIknewhimwhen...well in cyberspace at least:-) |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 15 May 12 - 11:49 PM Kat, I don't think that's it. I believe The Gleaner is a weekly paper, and "The Daily Gleaner" probably isn't. I didn't have any luck finding it. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: GUEST,999 Date: 16 May 12 - 12:02 AM So, lemme get this straight: this guy comes out of nowhere, is seen and heard by hundreds of thousands of people, had thousands of people vote for him and--what?, he lost? Tell me how! To top that, he sings opera. C'mon, when is the last time ANYone listened to opera? OK, maybe three friends ya never associate with, but really. He received hard won publicity most singers would give a left nut for, and he earned so many fans along the way. If this is failure, please, give the rest of us some. Way to go, Emilio, ya done great. BM |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: GUEST,Emilio Fina Date: 16 May 12 - 11:32 AM Hi Everyone! I have read every comment and am so very gracious to you all for the support. Thank you dearly. I had a great time on the show and am very lucky to have had this chance. I will never forget it. I will never forget what you all did for me as well, by voting and promoting and just boosting my confidence daily. Thank you ALL SO MUCH! I hope that my wife and I will have to chance to sing for you all real soon. It was really fun 2 weeks ago when I came down. Blessings, Emilio |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: gnu Date: 16 May 12 - 02:47 PM I saw in our paper two Moncton contestants were in the last however many and did well. Ivan Daigle, country singer & geetar man. Angry Candy, rock (?) band, who were in the last three (2? or was it 3?). Both have videos on You Tube. I didn't see many of the acts on You Tube but I saw Emilio and I am glad I did. What a talent! Not just congratulations, Emilio but I wish you every success in your new career. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 16 May 12 - 09:48 PM I don't think by Emilio's ending statement that he quit understands that this site and the responses from folks are not all from where i live. He referees to the show that he did here two weeks ago as if you were all here or living close by. Anyway, no problem. He and his wife are willing to do a show in the near future at the coffee house where I book artist so you can all come up and enjoy it. Ad. |

Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 17 May 12 - 08:59 PM That should be a great evening of music! |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 17 May 12 - 09:38 PM In this thread, he's got Colorado, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island (I think), the UK (maybe), as well as Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. I'd try to be there, even if I have to drive home afterwards. I've never been to an operatic coffee house before. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 17 May 12 - 10:18 PM I'm booked till the end of December right now, so maybe a spring fling would be good. What ya think Jeri? or is winter O.K. as well. I'll book around your schedule. How about that. Emilio will be flying so the weather is not an issue. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: meself Date: 17 May 12 - 10:27 PM Maybe he conflated "Mudcat Cafe" with your place in Kew-bec .... |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 17 May 12 - 10:29 PM Excellent point meself. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Jeri Date: 17 May 12 - 10:33 PM Ad, winter's probably less better because of crappy driving (unless it's like last winter). Spring-summer-fall would be good. I'm flattered, but book around Emilio's schedule, or yours, or the venue's. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: ChanteyLass Date: 18 May 12 - 11:05 PM Yes, Jeri, RI is here! No matter what time of year, I won't be there. I like opera, I love Canada (family roots in Quebec), but a trip there is not in the cards for me. |
Subject: RE: BEER'S Nephew Sings From: Beer Date: 20 May 12 - 10:02 PM Sorry for the delay in responding. Lots of relatives and garage sale weekend. Grandson wanted to have one. I will post again on this thread when I have confirmed when the show will take place. Chantey it is to bad you couldn't make it but thanks for the participation you have made on this thread. Very much appreciated. adrien |
