The following were results for an Ozwords Competition where entrants
were asked to take an Australian word, alter it by only one letter, and supply a new and witty definition.

You clearly need to be an Aussie to understand these :)

Billabonk: to make passionate love beside a waterhole.
Bludgie: a partner who doesn't work but is kept as a pet.
Dodgeridoo: a fake indigenous artefact.
Fair drinkum: good quality Aussie wine.
Flatypus: a cat that has been run over by a vehicle.
Mateshit: all your flat mate's belongings lying strewn around the floor
Shagman: an unemployed male roaming the Australian bush in search of
sexual activity.
Yabble: the unintelligible language of Australian freshwater
crustaceans.
Bushwanker: a pretentious drongo who reckons he's above average when it comes to handling himself in the scrub.
Crackie daks: 'hipster' tracksuit pants.
Shornbag: a particularly attractive naked sheep.
Technicolour lawn: the front yard after a rave party.

Leave a message if you need a translation

Cheers all

Years ago one of my friends had a bludgie. None of us liked him, & it took her years to realise why this was so & get rid of him.

I used to be MARRIED to a bludgie. And that was his better side.

As for mateshit - I know all about that too!

Jenny, trying to rack my brains to think of a few others - maybe later.

Hmmm.. seems my spelling of "cockatoo" was off.. 1640000 hits for cockatoo against just 2220 for cookatoo. Only consolation is that I'm not the only one who can't spell ;-)

Nothing daunted, I shall try again:

Lurebird - Lady of the Night
Jackatoo - Male galah of the non-feathered variety

G'day Foolestroupe,

Yeah ... but I'll bet you didn't throw them in the esky amongst the supplies for a weekend up in the mountains visiting a friend ... whose main concern in life is working with WiReS (Wii\ldlife Rescue Service) ... mostly rehabilitating joeys (young kangaroos) recued from the pouches of road-killed mother roos - to release back into the wild.

Well ... we did cook and eat our Kanga Bangas ... but Helen didn't join in!

Regard(les)s,

Bob
