Subject: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: GUEST Date: 20 Mar 07 - 06:39 PM The recent New England snowstorm underscored for me that Nice weather gets off far too easy in the assesment of too many!. They say the STORM caused 8 deaths in the Northeast. Most were car accidents but one guy had a heart attack while shoveling snow. The death is "STORM RELATED." Why pick just on STORMS? Lets say on a beautiful spring day, temps in the low 70's bright sunshine, some guy goes out to do some gardening, steps on a rake that comes up and whacks him in the head Three Stooges Style and kills him, or some fella is out playing golf and has a heart attack on the back nine, a jogger out for a run gets flattened by a tractor trailer. DO they blame the NICE Weather? NOOOOOO! Just STORMS! Nice weather never caused anybody any harm! Yeah Right, Gimme an ef'ing break. That is meteorological prejudice of the worst kind! Heck more people die in nice weather because they are out taking chances, a good storm will keep people safe at home. So some time this spring when someone you care about is going to the store make sure you remind them to drive carefully 'cause it's really NICE out! Call your local news outlet after the next pleasant day and ask them why they don't list the weather related death toll! Whack Fall The Day Nick |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: RangerSteve Date: 20 Mar 07 - 06:52 PM That's not the only thing they have wrong. Wouldn't you feel more comfortable knowing the heat index when it's 10 below, or the wind chill when it's 90? |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 21 Mar 07 - 08:20 AM Golf on a warm day is one of the single biggest causes of kidney failure - thru dehydration. |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: JennyO Date: 21 Mar 07 - 10:05 AM Too much nice weather and not enough rain is causing widespread drought here in Oz. Yes, it's easy to look at a bright sunny day and be happy about it, but we've had so many of those that now we look at heavy rain when it happens and feel pleased - genuinely pleased - about that. Of course, the ideal would be to have bright sunny days and lots of overnight rain - but the weather seldom cooperates in that way :-( |

Subject: Lyr Add: CAMELOT (Lerner/Lowe) From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 21 Mar 07 - 10:32 AM From the Movie 'Camelot' Song: Camelot Lyrics Artist: Richard Burton ARTHUR: It's true! It's true! The crown has made it clear. The climate must be perfect all the year. A law was made a distant moon ago here: July and August cannot be too hot. And there's a legal limit to the snow here In Camelot. The winter is forbidden till December And exits March the second on the dot. By order, summer lingers through September In Camelot. Camelot! Camelot! I know it sounds a bit bizarre, But in Camelot, Camelot That's how conditions are. The rain may never fall till after sundown. By eight, the morning fog must disappear. In short, there's simply not A more congenial spot For happily-ever-aftering than here In Camelot. Camelot! Camelot! I know it gives a person pause, But in Camelot, Camelot Those are the legal laws. The snow may never slush upon the hillside. By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear. In short, there's simply not A more congenial spot For happily-ever-aftering than here In Camelot. |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: GUEST,ib48 Date: 21 Mar 07 - 11:56 AM we could do with being killed here in england by nice weather,we spend most of our time gluing our balls back on. |

Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Mar 07 - 12:01 PM Nice weather? Wet winters make for green churchyards. Warm and wet weather will kill more people through viruses, pnuemonia and such than any cold spell - unless the cold spell lasts longer than 2 months, which in the UK is not often. Give me a good hard frost any day! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Scoville Date: 21 Mar 07 - 01:11 PM The weather casters here bitch about everything: Too cold, too wet, too hot, too blah blah blah. Will you freakin' make up your minds? Why bother complaining about the cold when you know that you're in for eight months of 90+ degree heat, 95% humidity, and hurricane season? Shut up and enjoy that cold weather. Personally, I like cold--I can always put on another layer of clothing, but if it's hot there's only so much I can take off before I get arrested (and am still too hot). It's when the nice weather hits that we start drowning people in backyard pools and losing them to the undertow in the Gulf of Mexico. Or baking them to death in their un-air-conditioned houses (maybe that no longer counts as "nice weather"?). |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Mar 07 - 01:38 PM There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing! Thank you, Billy Connolly! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Metchosin Date: 21 Mar 07 - 01:39 PM Scoville, when its nice here, they don't even call it weather. The forecasters on the news here announce that there is no "weather" today. I'm not certain exactly when weather stopped happening, but on this coast of Canada, it seems weather only occurs if it is bad or inconvenient. |

Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Wolfgang Date: 26 Mar 07 - 09:28 AM We had in Germany 20% more traffic accident deaths (66 more in raw numbers) this January (which was unusally warm and fair) than in last year's January which had so much snow that in many parts of the country the traffic broke down. Subject: RE: BS: Nice Weather, The Silent Killer From: Scoville Date: 26 Mar 07 - 11:06 AM Drowned our first fisherman in Lake Conroe after 1 week of spring. There's usually alcohol involved, or sunstroke, but it's all downhill from here. |
