Good news.

Joe Thompson rules.

A female geezer African American friend of mine is learning to play banjo.

Everybody is lucky they still have Joe. Shame they missed Odell.

One more enthusiastic recommendation here. I had a chance to interview the Drops a couple weeks ago in connection with an upcoming article for "Dirty Linen" (it will appear this summer), and aside from being great musicians who were loads of fun to hear, they are very nice people and deeply into the African-American string band tradition that they are helping carry on. Worth checking out if you're at all into the old-time genre.

Nice!

The following was in my email box tonight. Anyone in a reasonable radius thinking of going, post here, maybe we could meet up for dinner and go?

I saw the group at Folk Alliance where they drew a lot of well deserved attendion.   Their performance was one of the best I saw and I sat through one group I had no interest in just to get a good seat.
