Kevin, I'm new here, so it may be old news already that I tell you I heard Fred Neil died this past week. I first heard Fred Neil's music in the late 60's. Besides "Bleecker & Macdougal", check out his lp simply called "Fred Neil", on Capitol, that has the song "Dolphins" on it. It also has the original version of "Everbody's Talkin", which was the theme song to the movie "Midnight Cowboy". I think Harry Nilson did the movie version. I have both of these on CD, and there worth more than their weight in gold. One of his songs which is very appropriate is "Fare Thee Well". Fred Neil is a musician's musician.

TequilaRon, Thanks a lot! I had this song on a long since lost anthology album and I've been looking for lyrics for a long time. If you get a chance to post the chords I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again,

Kevin

Ok Kev this is the real deal.

BLUES ON THE CEILING
(Fred Neil)

Blues on the ceiling, over my head.
Running down the walls,
across the floor and over my bed.
Blue light across the street blinking off and on.
Its so lonely now she's gone.
I'll never get out of these blues alive.
I'll never get out of these crazy blues alive

Love had been a dirty five-letter word to me.
I was into the blues over my head blue was all I could see.
Up to my neck in misery.
I'll never get out of these blues alive.
I'll never get out of these blues alive.

Blues keep on foolin' rid my weary head.
Cocaine couldn't end the pain I'd be better off dead.
Blue lights gone now at last I sleep.
Bitter the blues the better they keep.
I'll never get out of these blues alive.
I'll never get out of these crazy blues alive.
^^

Kevin, You are right. Blues on the Ceiling was written by Fred Neil and originally released on an album titled Bleeker and MacDougal. It was re-released on Elektra Records under the title A Little Bit of Rain EKS-74073. This is a great album and if you are a Fred Neil fan you will want to own this album. It captures Neil at his creative best, during his glory days in Coconut Grove. I bought the re-issue at Spec's Records just a few years ago. I used to do Blues on The Ceiling but I haven't tried it in several years. Here are the lyrics. I don't remember all the chords, but I will play around with it a bit later in the week and post them to this thread.

Well Hell's Bells, the darn lyrics did not copy from Word. I'll get my best man on this and post again in a few minutes. Ron

I remember a song I heard in the 60's that I think was called Blues On The Ceiling. I believe the artist's name was Fred Neil.

The first verse went something like.....

Blues on the ceiling, Over my head, Running thru the halls and over the walls And under my bed. Blue light flashing on and off All I could see was red.

Can anyone help me with the lyrics?

Thanks,

Kevin
