Greetings -

The next monthly chantey sing aboard an historic floating vessel at Hyde Street Pier, San Francisco, will be on Saturday, April 7, 8pm-midnight. Free parking available at the foot of Van Ness Blvd. Admission is free, but reservations required, as space is limited. To reserve, please call 415-561-7171. The chantey sing is presented by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.

All are encouraged to lead songs, sing on the choruses, or just listen. No pressure to sing. Hot non-alcoholic beverages are served from the galley, and all entering get a free raffle ticket good for prizes of chantey CD's, tapes, books, and such.

If you've never attended one of these sings, you're really missing an experience. A love of sea songs is helpful but not essential. It's just great to get together with 70 or so people of all ages and sing aboard these old ships. You should be warned, though, that the experience can be addictive and before you know it you'll be purchasing nautical CD's, striped shirts, Greek captain hats, and concertinas.
