Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Girl Friday Date: 27 May 07 - 05:53 PM Absolutely wonderful session... thankyou everyone especially the Shiny Bums!!! Loved all their stuff, and they liked ours too. They could imagine a fusion of Bums and Leopards. Not just Be afraid--- be bloody terrified I reckon! |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Dead Horse Date: 27 May 07 - 07:32 PM There are already far too many Tone Def Bums in this world thanks very much! Loved the singing and the playing. Made mental note to attend more of same. Cheers. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 27 May 07 - 07:49 PM Shiny Bum videos -including Ten Meg Morris |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: GUEST,Canberra Chris Date: 28 May 07 - 04:27 AM That was just a fabulous gig - we loved every second of it, and everyone there. Tone Deaf Leopard being there too was an unexpected - something or other, it was nice to not be the only act delivering complete surprises and watching such a variety of facial expression in the audience! Thanks to everyone there, and our good hosts at the (very) Good Intent. May it all long continue. Chris |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: melodeonboy Date: 28 May 07 - 06:18 AM Thank you so much, Shiny Bums, you were brilliant. Quite unlike anything I've seen/heard before. As Growler said, the Morris dance using keyboards was unforgettable; definitely one of the funniest things I've ever seen. And I wasn't the only one crying with laughter at it. I'm sorry I missed you at the end and didn't get the chance to say goodbye in person. Enjoy the rest of your time in Britain and I hope our paths will cross again. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: fisheye Date: 28 May 07 - 06:35 AM excuse me being slow in responding to this link, but i have been without internet for some time. I do have a small videeo of the first afternoon at the good intent, Richard Bridges will have a copy on Tuesday at Petes rememberance. fisheye |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: The Barden of England Date: 28 May 07 - 07:21 AM What a fabulous afternoon. The Shiny Bums were BRILLIANT!! Both our daughters had a great time, and that's a first for my eldest - she arrived with a hangover and left with a great big smile on her face. The Shiny Bums are an Australian National Treasure without doubt, so a huge thank you from me and mine. John Barden |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 May 07 - 09:01 AM I bet there are a few hangovers out there! Glad Tenny enjoyed it, John. You'll get her singing yet! |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: growler Date: 28 May 07 - 11:40 AM A big thanks to Richerd for putting up the Bums at the last minute, despite the fact that I had to assist in cooking the post-gig curry Thanks Richard |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 29 May 07 - 03:07 AM Excellent afternoons entertainment, I thought they were great. How come there are so few pubs with the atmosphere and friendliness of the Good Intent? |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: GUEST,albert tatlock Date: 29 May 07 - 03:42 AM Fisheye - why don't you post the videeo (sic) on youtube or google and put a link here. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Dead Horse Date: 29 May 07 - 04:12 AM And a big thank you to Sir Les Patterson for arranging to have the Shiny Bums perform over here. (Am I the only one to notice the amazing likeness of one of the Shiny Bums to The Australian Cultural Attache to the Court of St James?) ((nepotism, no doubt)) :-) |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 May 07 - 04:35 AM Fisheye was not at the Bums. He is talking of different video (or videeeo, I wonder if it will play on a video player). The Bums aver that Sir Les is blamed for a lot of misconceptions about Australians... I think they take him off on purpose. Dead Horse, I have seen a sheaf of undoubtedly genuine letters from increasingly senior Australian civil servants, and politicians, testifying to the worth of the Bums work. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Herga Kitty Date: 29 May 07 - 03:16 PM I finally got to meet up with Chris today - he came to my office to case out the venue for tomorrow's SBS performance. I'm really looking forward to hearing them at last! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Girl Friday Date: 29 May 07 - 06:30 PM Well, Kitty, you won't be dissappointed. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Hawker Date: 29 May 07 - 06:54 PM No, Kitty disappointment doesn't happen when the bums are about! WOW just recovering from Bude Festival. Thank you so much Chris, David, Arminel, Pat and Kerry for your company on Friday night, It was an unforgettable experience. Keyboard Morris, mobile phones, ID cards, Lift tai chi, I am still pinching myself to think how lucky we were to have you at our first festival. Thank you so very much. Photos of the Bude Bums are available HERE I hope the photos I took on Kerry's camera came out OK. I do hope we will meet again, and Arminel i'll let you have the viagra song if you think you dare sing it! LOL Much love and thanks to you ALL. Lucy x |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 30 May 07 - 05:09 AM thanks for the pictures, Lucy sandra |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: Herga Kitty Date: 30 May 07 - 02:58 PM A huge thanks to Chris, Kerry, Pat, Arminel and Dave for brightening my day today - and for presenting me with an autographed copy of the 2007 tour book and a CD. I owe them all a large drink (at the least) - they can explain why, and it's all my fault. I hope to get an opportunity some time to see them in a folk club or festival setting rather than at my place of work! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: growler Date: 30 May 07 - 03:40 PM Here Here to all the comments above. As an organiser of a small town folk club, ( albeit, voted the best venue on Mudcat), I thank the Bums for a special afternoon, that will long be remembered |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Rochester Shiny Bum Singers From: GUEST,Canberra Chris Date: 04 Jun 07 - 10:55 AM Thanks again to everyone, certainly including Richard Bridge - scholar and gentleman - for putting up the unkempt Bums overnight. Growler - the curry was great, and most welcome! We did scandalously overlook to present Richard with a songbook and CD between our varying departures, but they are awaiting him at the Good Intent with our apologies. Melodeonboy, we ain't seen or heard nothing like you either! Attempts by the Bums to describe your person and performance to others are foundering on the rocks. I think I referred to your voice as being pitched in the key of minus 20 degrees Centigrade, or was that Growler? My last dying word will probably be 'Torremolinos'. I will reconnect if I can before departure. Cheers, Chris |
