Oh, and great to meet Barry Finn (hi Barry!), and to see bbc & duane d, Caroline Paton, Sandy Paton, Liam's Sister in Law, and probably one or two other mudcatters who I'm not remembering at the moment...

Just wanna add my 2 cents -
the room restrictions were a drag (I got shut out of
a couple of things before they even started) but with
so much going on, I never felt deprived. The range
and quality of this year's performers were stellar -
many of the folks Dave mentioned I was also really happy to
see, and it was a special treat to have Geordie and Alison
there from Scotland. Their session on Willie Scot was phenomenal!

I didn't realize until after the festival that Julia Friend
and Sarah Pilzer were doing a session - there are a couple of
talented folks under 30! I missed them (I think we were opposite
each other in time slots) but at least got to see them in the halls.

Mark my words, next year will be even better.

Greetings:

For me one of the highlights of NEFFA was a last-minute replacement event that was not on the schedule. If you went to hear Stephens and LaMarca present Give Old Satan Another Round on Saturday at 6:00 PM, you found instead Anne Price doing Gospel for Atheists. Linda Leslie asked Anne on Friday if she could pinch hit. She agreed, and with only one day to prepare, she did a remarkable job of filling up the 50 minutes with songs that certainly sounded and felt like Gospel, but which were completely lacking in any reference to God, Jesus, Heaven, etc. One example was Living Planet, written by Jay Mankita.

I hope Anne does Gospel for Atheists as a regularly scheduled event next year.

--- Steve

I started a new thread at thread.cfm?threadid=108068&messages=7

No confusion now, I hope.
