Well, glad that's over - what a crock. Nice article today at FOX Sports on Betteman(sp?) and how he really mucked up the NHL.
I didn't get into the politics of what was going down when it happened, but according to this author, G.B. is to blame for the demise of the NHL as it was and as it was headed. No, I am NOT a FOX news person but their sports page is not bad, and, it is another source. Looking forward to the 2008 hockey season and the run for the cup. GO RED WINGS!!! Well.... forget the crap penalties. It is the Duck's game. If they can't even "put the puck on the net" on a power play, all is lost.

If they do pull this one out, I'll be very surprised. Only way they might is if they decide to control the puck on the way in instead of just slapping it into the corner. Or, at least, PUT THE PUCK ON THE NET... gee!

What Alfredsson did, shooting the puck at Niedermayer, is far more dangerous than an elbow to the head.
Agreed, Pronger gets a little mental irregularity periodically and his brain doesn't seem to match his body size! Alfie seems to fly in just under the radar on most nights. Never seems to do anything that the refs catch(because he watches them) or the league feels requires supplemental punishment after revue, but he is a dirty player all the same, and just as dangerous!
I've been at this game for over 45 yrs and refereed for much of those. I'll take an elbow over a puck any day!!!

P.S.
as I've stated in the past, a Europian has never captained a Stanley Cup Champ!!!!

Pronger is little more than a "cheap shot" player and his ilk need to be banned from the sport. He doesn't deserve to have his name on a cup - any cup, much less the Stanley Cup. I really, really dislike the Anaheim Sucks. Cheers,...and, GO RED WINGS!

We really like the cuurent ad campaigns-- the NHL's that shows players off the ice having a lot of fun: "They're just like you and me, plus they're really good at hockey." And the other series, not NHL-sponsored, that shows wannabe's getting taken down a peg or two: "You wouldn't make it in the NHL." Hilarious!

Remember the so called great fight expectation that was going to happen between Shack and Fergie? The game took place an if memory serves me right They bumped into each other and when Fergie looked his way and made a move, Eddy took of for the bench. It was a great laugh. When I look back now I see Eddy as being just a great guy that was really just having fun.

Can anyone remember this one:
On Coaches Corner, Don Cherry is shown standing with his arms in the air and egging at the crowd. I remember him doing this in the televised game but can't remember who it was against or what caused the moment.

Yes, Beer! I belly-laughed every time I saw it. What a guy! I recall a TV interview with him where he said he prided himself on never throwing the second punch! We use to call him "The Big Stick."

OTTAWA -- Anaheim Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger has been suspended for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final for a blow to the head of Ottawa Senators center Dean McAmmond Saturday night.

The incident occurred at 2:01 of the third period. No penalty was assessed.

"A variety of factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. "Mr. Pronger used his forearm to deliver a forceful hit to the head of his opponent. Also, his actions caused injury to his opponent."

Pronger also was suspended previously for delivering a blow to the head of Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom in the Western Conference Final.

Pronger will be eligible to return for Game 5, Wednesday at Anaheim.

I think so too. I think they may end his personal Cup run with a multi-game outage. Like they said in the commentary-- he knows's he 6'6," and he has to control the body he has. "I was finishing my check and I dunno what happened after that" is less than taking full responsibility and evincing remorse. They oughtta whack him for the rest of the series, for that attitude.

Then the Ducks can whine about the bad NHL suspension for losing the Cup. Save Duckface.

Pronger sure plays differently this year than he did last year. I didn't like the smirky face after that McAmmond hit. I don't mind rough hits, or fights, but I don't want to see McAmmond miss his chance to lose to the Pens next year. :~)

We want to see the Sens have to go to 7 games, and win 7 in a nailbiter. We don't mind if they lose three games and get really freaked out about it, as long as they dine on Ducks at the end.

OK TG, time for your geography lesson. First off, Quebec is a province in Canada and Quebec City is it's capital. The capital and seat of federal government of Canada is Ottawa and the senate comprises one branch of it's government, hence the Senators, whose logo is a Roman centurion - go figure.

A sad, sad, day in Hockeytown South. As stated several days ago, I really do dislike the ducks and their cheap-shot style of play; also, having heard an inteview with the Senators head coach - I like him a bunch - not on game day against the Wings; but, I like him.
So, I guess it's down to GO SENS!...and enjoy your Duck Soup.

By the way, my wife asked me the other day - why do they call them the Senators? I thought for a minute and came to the realization that I don't know. Quebec is the capital of Canada, right?...so is Ottawa a provincial capital?...or am I missing something here and haven't got the slightest idea as to what I'm talking about?

So, now that the Wings have been eliminated, according to the 27, 37,47.....formula I posted earlier, the Senators should win the cup! Wrong! The Cup has never been won by a team with a European captain! So it looks like the Ducks!
