Hhmmm... I had a milk round in Cleckheaton many moons ago.... used to go to the folk night at the Richardson Arms in Oakenshaw and played regularly in impromptu sessions at the Pack Horse, Rose 'n Crown with Mally, Paul Flannery (when he lived in London and visited Cleck regularly), Dave Taylor etc. etc. etc.... Hiya Padge, nice of you to reply.
Tap-up Bob - I'm sure he comes from Cleckie - I had another think, and, now I believe it was about 35 Years ago I last saw him. He was temp. engaged to the sister of someone we both know.!!!Ah-Ha !!
Give him my regards if you bump into him ( and Booker also).
Cheers Betsy.

Tell me about it. I've always steered well clear - this lecturer at our college, who didn't like me, came from there. Because of that I've always suspected the town might have alot of his sort lurking and smirking about. (that man could smirk for Europe!)

Since the boundaries of Cleckheaton are continually disputed and the cultural influence of Cleckheaton is much graeter than mere geography, might it not be more appropriate to recognise the importance of folkies from Cleckhuddersfax?

Travelling Charles Fyson (of the Les Barker poem fame) lives in Cleckheaton - unless he's moved of course.

Cleckie is a first rate place, but can only be accessed once a year, like Brigadoon.

Dave Brady of Swan Arcade fame had a shop in Cleckheaton for a while...does that count?

Dave Mallison, he's lived there for many years, don't know if he was born there though.

Yourself, of course. Can't say that Scholes is very far out of Cleckheaton.

Me. I must learn the trumpet someday.
