This is the first verse and the chorus from 'Abar Amhrán,' if it is what you want I can post the rest.

An Banbh

Ar maidin Dé Máirt ba chráite bhí m'aigne,
Am shuí ar cheann cláir ag ithe prátaí 'gus bainne leo;
Nuair a phreab chugham mo mháthair ba dhána bhí a labhartha,
"Éirigh at' shuí 'stráile, ar fán chuaigh an banbh uainn."
Curfá :

Rites fol de ó, Rites fol de ral é ral í
Rites fol de ó, Rites fol do ral é rad í dee.

Yes, definitely please. I've been looking for this. If you post it here, please omit the accent marks, because all that comes across is a "?".

Or you can email it to me at daniellelabels(shift2)-gmail.com

What is "Abar Amhran"? A book? Website?

Thanks very much.

DD

LOL, "Dalielle" -- I saw your request on the IRTRAD list and thought to ask for you here at Mudcat. But I see you've found the place on your own, and possibly the lyrics you want, as well.

Cheers,
Michael

Glad to be of service, Dalielle. Obviously your browser doesn't support accents, if you mean to
keep on with things Gaelic perhaps it would be a good idea to find one that does. 'Abar Amhrain'
is a useful small book put out by Comhaltas Uladh in Belfast, I think that I got my copy from
http://www.litriocht.com/shop/ or http://www.cuplafocal.ie/ but that was a few years ago.

Do phreabhas on mbord, dheineas comhartha na crois' orm
'S mo hata le forsa am dhoid liom gur sciobas e;
Do ritheas an bothar go dti na comharsain ba ghiorra dhom
Feachaint a' gcasfai le noimeat ar stro banbh muic' orthu.
Curfa:

Ar filleadh domhsa ba bhronach bhi m'aigne,
Le suil a's fa dhoigh, go ngeofai don mhaide orm;
'Se an leathsceal do fuaireas sar a mbuailfi sa mhalain me
Gur cealacan muar chuir an ruagairt chomh tapa air.
Curfa:

Nior thaitin san mar raiteachas leis na mnaibh do bhi sa bhaile romham,
Duradar nar ghnach le faidhe bheith rafar riamh;
Eirigh i d' shui a straile, 'gus s' lathair an banbh chughainn
No m' iosfair don phrata ar an gclar seo 'n fhad mhairfidh tu.
Curfa:

Furasta togaidh, foill na bi' cealgach,
Mar is eol domsa e fhogairt gan feoirling do chailliuint leis.
D'imios an bothar ar seol chun an gheata soir,
Rian a chruibin do fuaireas gan fuacht ins an lathaigh ann.
Curfa:

Chuas o thuaidh go dti 'n teampall, mar bhi ogbhruinneall mhaisiuil.
Duirt go raibh se sa chlos nuair bhi bolacht ar bainne aici.
D'imios o thuaidh a's morthimpeall an leasa siar,
Agus fuaireas sa tuar e, 'gus fuadar chun treafa faol.

Aren't there different unicode settings you can choose in Windows, some of which will support accents?

I'm sure it's been explained here before...

Cheers,
Michael

First off, Thank You very much. I'm usually pretty careful about the accents, but I've got "all" the browsers and will try another.

If you see query marks in place of accented characters in messages, it's probably not because your browser is too limited but because the poster pasted in raw text, without replacing the accented characters with HTML escapes. For instance, an accented u should be entered as "ú", which will then appear to everyone else as "ú". (You see it correctly here, don't you?) The Scots Gaelic equivalent (ù) is entered as "ù".

If posters mark the Preview box when entering text cut-n-pasted from other source, they can catch most of these problems. Note that the characters that many word processors use for quotes and dashes are also in the "extended" range, and may show up as query marks (unrecognized characters) when pasted into messages. They need to be replaced with ASCII equivalents or HTML escapes.

Celtic (vs. Romanized) text with dotted and "long" consonants are another story. Whether they appear correctly depends on what font you have selected as your default. Many fonts don't include these characters at all; others include the dotted consonants, but not the long ones or 7-ampersand (agus). Fortunately, most folks here enter Romanized text, with trailing h's indicating dotted consonants.
