Subject: Northern Harmony in UK From: Trevor Date: 02 May 07 - 07:56 AM I heard Northern Harmony on Saturday evening and enjoyed them so much that I went to see them again last night. If unaccompanied, joyful, singing of songs from around the world are your bag then get to see them and here's a link to the remaining schedule of concerts. If you've not heard them, then their description of "a hearty, full-throated straight-toned singing style with unorthodox voicing" just about sums it up. Add to that the fact that they are generally young, enthusiastic and attractive and I can see why somebody last night was saying that one of their workshops had led to a whole new approach, and interest, in music in a particular school. Go see 'em before they go home! |

Subject: RE: Northern Harmony From: Susan A-R Date: 02 May 07 - 09:28 PM If you want to hang out with folks like that, look into Village Harmony, a series of camps for young folk, adults and combinations thereof where you get to sing together for a week or three, in Vermont, or far more exotic places, such as the Republic of Georgia, Italy, Bulgaria (can't spell for S--T) and such. I believe they have a website. I've cooked for and attended two camps and they are a blast, and the energy level is pretty good, almost like those Northern Harmony types. |
