Subject: Song Challenge: the Love Bug vs the Army From: Jack Campin Date: 07 May 07 - 12:36 PM The sex is OK, it's just the frequency Michael Theodoulou in Nicosia Sunday May 6, 2007 The Observer Small, egg-shaped and promising 'divine' vibrations, a UK sex toy has been deemed a threat to Cyprus's national security. According to the company Ann Summers, the Love Bug 2 has been banned because the Cypriot military is concerned its electronic waves would disrupt the army's radio frequencies. Operated by a remote control with a range of six metres, it is described by Ann Summers as 'deceptively powerful'. The company said: 'The Love Bug 2 is available in Cyprus but we have had to put a warning out urging Cypriots not to use it.' I think this is one for George Papavgeris... |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: the Love Bug vs the Army From: Amos Date: 07 May 07 - 12:56 PM So...you carry this around inserted in some special cavity, right? And then you use a remote wireless control to start it vibrating at times of your choosing, such as the middle of dull meetings, long train rides, speeches by long winded politicians, dull parties, conventions of class mates from thirty years ago...that sort of thing, right? And the control frequency interferes with...with...military applications???? Oh, dear Gawd, put me back on Earth -- this Boffolandia place is just TOO weird! A |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: the Love Bug vs the Army From: JohnInKansas Date: 08 May 07 - 06:54 PM It must be a local thing. My first 600 Google returns for "Love Bug" only include one mention of a "remote control" device, that says it "Ships within UK only." There are two mentions of a US FTC settlement with a CA company selling a "Love Bug" that they claimed would repell mosquitoes from your infants carriage (pram?). The FTC says it doesn't. About two-thirds of the rest relate to the "Lovebug" computer virus that, with variants, reportedly caused billions of dollars in damage a half-decade ago. (Variants still loose) The remainder are about the 1997 movied about Herbie. Caution should be exercised, or US Homeland Security will likely say that the Cypriot Army is protecting mosquitoes, and may well launch an assault to stamp out Cypriot support of terrorist stingers. They've already accused Iran of providing stingers to Iraq, haven't they? John |
