We too, in the UK, have had the experience of rain again. The country as a whole has had only 14% of it's normal April rainfall, only 2% has fallen on London. People don't believe me when I tell them we've had next to no rain since the middle of March.

Of course, May Bank holiday saw the official start of Summer so now it's poured down every day!

I was watching the news last night (something I rarely do) for news of the Florida fires, not a mention. Even on Sky/CBS news which puts it into 2 categories, USA and RestofWorld, there was not a word.

If you want, I can reopen the Extreme Weather Tavern we had a month back.... come in and wet yer whistles on Bert.

Weather may be safe to talk about...

but Tallahassee is completely engulfed by a fine yellow/blue/gray haze and my eyes are burning and my throat is irritated. Old people have to stay indoors. It is awful and so dry...eleven inches of rain below the year need already. About 200 fires in Florida and The Okefenokee Swamp is now the Okefenokee Barbecue. The Florida Folk Festival will have a fine coating of ash like it did in '02 when Offer was there...

But hey,,,it could be worse. Hurricane season starts in three weeks!

If I tried to recover my password since my email changed whey would say no such account exists and if I tried to register they claim my IP address or user name is already taken.

One suggested possible way to keep the troublesome GUESTS out permanently is to insist on total membership then - and for those who cannot keep a cookie on their PC - they will just have to put in their password for each post.

Just a theoretical suggestion, Max - but then I don't know just how much work rewriting that will involve.

If fire is weather, now the Georgia fire has linked up with the Florida fire and has burned over 1,000 sq. miles.

America's largest city park, Griffiths Park has burned down sparing only 3 landmark buildings.

Catalina Island is on fire and all 4,000+ people have been evacuated.

Fire season starts later in the summer.

Once again another baseless generalization:

weather moves from West to East.

In the US some mild weather perhaps drifts across the continent in a west to east direction.

The REALLY BAD STUFF nearly always starts down "south of the border" and moves more in a northerly direction, entering the country illegally and without permission, paying no taxes, and causing horrific disruptions of our social welfare systems.

There ain't no "tropics"¹ in the US, and we can do without all those "tropical storms." The current administration refuses to do anything about them, but we're gonna get some real environmental progressives in office and put up a real fence at the next election.

¹ Except in the far Northwest where all the mudslides happen.

I find that twangling can be enhanced by both good and bad weather conditions. Good weather conditions make anyone feel like twangling. Bad weather, on the other hand, works well too, because you want to get away from it into some cozy refuge where you can twangle and forget about the weather for awhile.

I walked into a weather club the other day carrying an umbrella and it was clear from the reaction of the members that umbrellas were frowned upon. The whole evening was dominated by people in galoshes!

I shan't go there again...I'll stay at home and write my own weather!

weather just ain't what it used to be; heck, I was born in a short lull between two hurricanes - both of which made it further north then Cape Cod; both of which threw fishing boats up on shore, etc, etc, etc. These days the place would be declared a disaster zone - back then people just took snapshots to prove it happenned and then went on.

We are always excluded from the circle of proper musicians to a position nearer the car park.

I thought I would start a thread that would be an island of banality nestling serenly in the eye of the storm of debate.
A place were the true uncontentious nature of the Brit F(*)olky could be displayed for our freinds around the world who may have gotten the idea that we are a warlike and arguementative people.
So here it is.
The weather here in Grimsby is fine&sunny but a tad breezy with a hint of showers to come.
This means musically that I must be sure to fetch my guitar in doors when ever I need another beer or to use the bathroom.
How is it with you?
