Sheelanagig release their second album 'Baba Yaga's Ball' tomorrow, and are on tour for the next month. Recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studio, the album features 10 tracks of our best celtic-gypsy-prog-ska-folk business.

Daily Planet banjo player Leon Hunt joins the band on two numbers, 'The Canny Man' and the bhangra-meets-hot-club stomp 'Soup With a Fork'. A former student of Bela Fleck, he has been described by fRoots as "the Jeff Beck of the banjo".

You can hear two tracks from the album here:

Well, I may or may not be a discerning mudcatter, but let me say that Sheelanagig are a thoroughly excellent band and anyone with an ounce* of commonsense should go and see them forthwith.
(* ounce: obsolete measure, now probably illegal)

The Railway have just given me their demo CD, which I thought is excellent - I've never heard them before! I'll be playing one of the tracks on Sounds of Folk next Monday.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Alio, if you drop us an email with your address on it I'll send you a copy of the new album.

Greg - I haven't seen you for far too long. The last time we met you advised me to not become a professional musician unless I had no other career option whatsoever - oops!
