Hi, Just want you all to join me in welcoming another mudcatter from Cornwall to the fold! Steve Shaw, mouth organist extraordinaire! He plays with 'Three In a Bush' and can be enoyed every other Friday at The Tree Inn In Stratton at their session which plays predominantly Irish Music. If you are in the area ever, go have a listen - or join in! Welcome Steve, to the madhouse!
Cheers, Lucy

Welcome Steve!

Here are three tips to help you survive the madness forum here at Mucat.

1) if approached by a lady wanting to know "Would you like a gift?" - no matter how genteel, innocent or combinations thereof she may appear - the answer is "no!"
(unless you like crocheted toilet paper covers, headless nuns, 6 foot pink plush flamingos, banjo playing walruses and suchlike)

2) lions is not ducks.

3) never, ever, take Jack along with you. anywhere.

Welcome, Steve.
And if you fancy giving your mouth organ a little outing then bring it over to Bideford Folk Club in the Joiners Arms one Thursday evening. Hawker will give you the details.

Sue

My grandfather was "born and bred" in Lancashire. He worked for years in the cotton mills.

Steve - we're used to people migrating round the country. It's just good to know that they'll be welcome in the folk club they turn up to.

Breezy sang a "Devon" song at Herga on Monday. He sang it with a Geordie accent, because it was written by Ben Campell, just around the corner.

Kitty

PS if you're dyed-in-the-wool Lancashire, I hope you're following the thread on Harry Boardman, even though you're not posting to it.

Hi again Steve
Derek and Doreen used to be regulars but we haven't seen them much recently. Last time was in January when they joined us for Bideford Folk Club's long weekend away at the Lizard Youth Hostel.
I'll make sure he knows about the stuff going on in Bude and Stratton.

Hey, I have trouble even finding threads let alone posting to 'em! I always thought that blow the man down was an entreaty to blast the enemy ship, or man o' war, right out of the water, but as I know this as a rumour only I daren't post it to that thread with all those knowledgeable people. Surely someone from Friggin Riggin would know. Anyway I'm all too often taken up with starting/continuing/maintaining flameaceous threads on The Session dotorg. Heheh! Derek is often to be seen angling on Bude Canal on a Sunday morning and I could seek him out there, but it's the close season at present (I expect the uneatables in the canal quite enjoy that). I see him every now and then and he's in good nick as far as I know. We go back quite a long way in our connection with The Tree folk club.   But I wonder why Doreen always closes her eyes when she's listening to Derek sing... ;-)

Stevie boy - stay on yur island

There are lots and lots of webfolks that welcome yur type.

Find them. Seek them out. Prim them. Cultivate your kindred kind.

Don't come here. We are AMERICAN folk, blues, jazz, and most of the drivel contributed by the UK contingent is worthy of a piss-pot initiation to Friar Tuck's Band of Morris Dancers.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle
