THE WEDDING OF JOCK MACKAY

I've just come from the wedding of a Mr. Jock Mackay,
He got married to a little girl her name was Nellie Blythe,
No mistake about it, it was quite a swell affair,
Listen for a minute I will tell you who was there.

There was Mr. Jock MacKay himself of course it understood,
He been dying to get married now he's stuck with her for good,
Nellie Blythe, her sister and I were in our Sunday clothes,
She'd a bangle on her wrist, a pimple on her nose.

Archibald McPherson was called to take the chair,
I knew that he was Archibald because he had no hair,
Mistress McPherson, his wife, of course was there,
She's been about, she's rather stout, she's forty, fat, and fair.

There was Allister McAllister and Tam's son from Dundee,
Bonnie Jean from Aberdeen and other two or three,
Skelly from Lochgelly, poor fellow, he's cross eyed,
He couldn't look you straight in the face no matter how he tried.

Don McLean from Stornoway brought Mary of Argyll,
Bob McPhee and Tam McGhee drinking a' the while,
Jock MacKay's relations though uncles he had few,
His Auntie Jean, his Auntie McLean, his Auntie McArthur too.

There were young men, old men, girls that weren't men at all,
Single men, double men marching through the dining hall,
What a glorious supper, we had there,
If you listen for a minute I will read the "bill-o-fare"

There was pig's head, pig's feet, mocking bird and ostriches,
Ice cream, cold cream, vaseline and sausages,
Gold fish, green fish, fish hooks and partridges,
Fish balls, snow balls, cannon balls and cartridges.

Oatmeal, barleymeal, porridge and beef rolls,
Ice and tapioca and goodness only knows,
Pan loafs, pancakes, dumplings galore,
Apple tarts and rhubarb tarts and tarts that lived next door,

Port wine, sherry wine, raspberry wine, currant wine,
Caster oil, olive oil, linseed oil in a line,
Champagne, back pain, pains you couldn't tell,
Lemonade and lucosade and miracle aid as well,

Then the band started playing when I be gang awa',
Bagpipes, gas pipes, water pipes an a',
We all danced the deuce step the doe step and fling,
We held were hands together and we all began to sing.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, it's time I was in bed,
I never shall forget the day that Jock MacKay was wed.

"Macdhu2004" is looking for the words to THE WEDDING OF JOCK MACKAY, Which was "recorded ... at an evening of comic music in Scotland in the '70s." There must have been a previous thread on this, for I had in my files a comment from Sing Out! Editor Mark Moss which identified a source as Johnny Beattie's Tribute to the Kings of Scottish Comedy (CDELM4103) with an attribution of the piece to Scottish comedian Lex MacLean. There are several sales sites on the Internet for this CD, but who can supply the actual lyrics?

Anyone have the words to a song called Jock MacKay's wedding? I searched the database but can't find it. I've been listening to it on the real audio of the lowell folk festival (at folkimage.com).
