Subject: Canadian Song/Artist ID Help
From: GUEST,Nick
Date: 19 May 07 - 05:02 PM

I have been listening to CJYQ-am, St. Johns Newfoundland on the web. One thing that is very annoying is they do not tell you what songs they play and it does not apear in the browser/media player. I have heard this tune at least a dozen times, but a google search does not turn up the artist or lyrics, so naturally I come here to ask for help.

The song seems to be about a Maritimer who moved away from his home and hopes to get back before he passes on. He has two sons, one a Pilot one and Architect who are too busy to help, he had a daughter who died in "The fire of 64" and his wife who "was taken by the sikness"

The chorus is...How I wish that I was stronger, to make the trip back home but it's so hard when your alone....

So anyone recgonise the song and can you tell me title, album and artist please?
Thanks
Nick

Well I know you all were tossing and turning at night but the mystery has been solved thanks to this very kind email from the music director at CJYQ

Hi Nick,

Thanks for writing………..hope all is well down there in Conneticut. You've got great taste! The song you're referring to is one of my personal favorites. It's called "Another Morning" and it's by a well-known performer from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia by the name of J.P.Cormier. It's from an album called "Cape Breton by Request Volume 2". I don't have a copy of the cd. anymore but I'm sure you can find out more on Google. Hope you continue to enjoy the station…………Sincerely,

                                                                                                          Brenda Silk

                                                                                                          Music Director,

                                                                                                          Radio Newfoundland

Rather decent of her to take the time to respond I though, knowing how all the Mudcatters must have been fretting about being unable to ID the song. Rest well Catters!

I knew that was familiar but couldn't for the life of me remember.
JPC's album of the same name is out on Iona recordings of Glasgow, Scotland. www.lismor.co.uk
Should be still available.
