Our local indie station broadcast a live concert with Michael Gulezian tonight. Wow! If you go HERE there is info about him, plus if you click on "audio player" you can listen to 24 of his songs. I like Kotke better, but this guy did bring him to mind, as well as some of the Hawaiian slack key greats.

Just saw him a few weeks ago in Bethesda MD on a triple bill John Fahey tribute concert with Nick Schillace and Peter Lang. Terriffic show! Fahey's Takoma Records had issued his first LP album way back when.

Must've been a great show. I would have gone tonight but didn't find out about it until it was being broadcast. I am listening to his songs on the link and have to say I really like some of them, "9th and Main," being one of those, and others I am not crazy about. I think he sounds a lot better just doing instrumental. He's not a bad singer, but, imo, it detracts and gets in the way of listening to his playing. That's just hearing what he did live, tonight, and what he has on his website, though, so I could be wrong.:-)

I sent him an email last night. He must have a laptop with him, as I received a long and very nice reply this morning. Quite decent fellow by all accounts.
