Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 04 Jul 07 - 09:50 AM Finally back on line after the past few days. Must re-set my cookie now I'm at home. Obviously the gods smiled on us on Sunday, so good to see so many turn up despite the heavy rain in the morning. Have just managed to take the gazebo's down today. I've still got plenty of beer left though. Richard I've still got your chair, (and yours' too Woodsie. Also a portable BBQ which I found in the shed and was very wary of. I understand from Mick Forde that it could be Pete's - when do you want to re-claim it.) I'll be doen your way in the next couple of weeks Richard. I have told Val that weather permitting I'll come down and help with the garden(s) Monday week.See you all soon Linda |

Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: billybob Date: 21 Jun 07 - 11:31 AM Bill and I were so sad to hear the news, Peter was a lovely man, he was always there sitting quietly in the background at various occasions that Dave was involved in.He was fantastic when Dave was ill and I know you will miss him Linda. See you on the 1st for a happy day for a change! |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Essex Girl Date: 21 Jun 07 - 07:57 AM We are all very sorry to see Peter go, he has been a great help to me fitting my kitchen and doing various electrical works since Dave died. He was always helping friends, family and old workmates as well as being a regular volunteer for the National Trust and yet would never ask anything for himself. |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Dave Masterson Date: 21 Jun 07 - 03:27 AM Very sad to hear about Peter. John is so right - when we visited Dave in hospital after his stroke, Peter was virtually a permanent fixture at his bedside. |

Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 29 May 07 - 03:17 AM If Guru is thinking of chopping down some trees, don't worry, I had to have the willow lopped by tree surgeons as it was becoming dangerous. It is growing well again, so there will be some shade. |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 May 07 - 04:45 PM Even then he'd be going to the wrong place. Are you sure you'll be at the barbie, Don? |

Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 27 May 07 - 06:16 AM You would need a nuclear device to make any kind of dent in those! |

Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Girl Friday Date: 26 May 07 - 05:40 PM I echo all that's gone before, but why does Guru want to bring a chainsaw? |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: melodeonboy Date: 26 May 07 - 06:52 AM I shall let the train take the strain! As for it being "a great bash, with wonderful people", and the beer being excellent last year, a definite "yes" on both counts. I'm really looking forward to it. |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 25 May 07 - 06:07 PM We'll be there as usual Linda. Last year's brew was close to the ultimate. I don't remember the journey home. Fortunately I wasn't driving, at least I don't think I was. Don T. |

Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Essex Girl Date: 25 May 07 - 09:30 AM Richard, I've got a gas BBQ for those who are vegans or anyone else who wants to cook unsullied. If anyone needs to stay overnight, I've got the caravan or sofa/floor space. Otherwise you could always put a small tent up in the garden now that I've got some extra space. |
Subject: RE: 2007 BBQ SE London From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 May 07 - 05:57 PM In case the point gets lost, the format is "bring it and burn it" Linda provides metal barbecues, charcoal, firelighters, salads and vegetables, bread, etc, and sometimes a pretty good paella. And more importantly, 2 casks of lethal homebrew. Bring your own meat or fish, and if you want kosher or al-halal, your own barbecue and charcoal. Also bring contributions to the booze. Women may want to bring food offerings 'n' stuff. Possibly death by chocolate puddings. Of no interest to real men of course. |
