Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Bob Dylan From: Big Tim Date: 25 May 08 - 02:59 PM Anybody see Lou Majaw (Asian Indian) singer celebrating Dylan's birthday with performances of his songs on BBC4 the other night? I found it a bit strange but have taped it and will probably warm to it eventually. |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Bob Dylan From: Nick Date: 25 May 08 - 10:29 AM We were playing a gig last night so here's our Dylan song from the night - All Along the Watchtower. It's about 6 mins long and definitely isn't folk music though it is acoustic, but for a completely unrehearsed thing with a guitarist playing a borrowed acoustic who had never even met the singer it worked pretty well I reckon. The recording is the one time my little Zoom H2 recorder has let me down as I got the levels wrong and it clips and distorts which is sad. I reckon the solo playing from about 2mins on (and again at 3:40 till the end) is pretty good and goes some way to make up for the shortcomings of the recording. |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday Bob Dylan From: alanabit Date: 25 May 08 - 03:00 AM I was at Blackbushe in 1978, having queued all day for tickets at Earl's Court and failing to get any. I am also a huge fan of "Blood on the Tracks", which instantly converted me for ever. Before that, I had known some of his work, without actually being blown away. In any event, Happy Birthday Bob and thanks for many great songs. |

Subject: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB DYLAN From: lefthanded guitar Date: 24 May 07 - 04:35 PM Today is Bob Dylan's 65th birthday!!! How amazing that the man who started it all for me and so many music lovers is still writing and performing at his peak. He was my creative muse and need never have written a better album than Freewheelin' or Bringing It all Back Home..and on and on. A true genius of music, I wish him he best and many more years of creative bliss. There's probably many celebrations going on to sing Dylan this weekend,so post 'em here if you know of them. Or just hum a few bars of Forever Young. |
