Anybody see Lou Majaw (Asian Indian) singer celebrating Dylan's birthday with performances of his songs on BBC4 the other night?

I found it a bit strange but have taped it and will probably warm to it eventually.

We were playing a gig last night so here's our Dylan song from the night - All Along the Watchtower. It's about 6 mins long and definitely isn't folk music though it is acoustic, but for a completely unrehearsed thing with a guitarist playing a borrowed acoustic who had never even met the singer it worked pretty well I reckon.

The recording is the one time my little Zoom H2 recorder has let me down as I got the levels wrong and it clips and distorts which is sad. I reckon the solo playing from about 2mins on (and again at 3:40 till the end) is pretty good and goes some way to make up for the shortcomings of the recording.

I was at Blackbushe in 1978, having queued all day for tickets at Earl's Court and failing to get any. I am also a huge fan of "Blood on the Tracks", which instantly converted me for ever. Before that, I had known some of his work, without actually being blown away. In any event, Happy Birthday Bob and thanks for many great songs.

Wish I'd seen him in 65. Was only a tot though...

Did manage Earls Court, and Blackbushe, in June, and July, 1978 though. And that wasn't yesterday.

Hey Def, you memory's cracking up! On the 6th of May '65 Bob played Newcastle City Hall. I was there and still have the ticket stub - 'Thursday 6th May 1965 at 7.30 p.m. Tito Burns [for Tito in action see Don't Look Back] presents Bob Dylan 15/- [15 shillings]'. And to think that he had a worldwide No. 1 album in 2006, what a guy!

Amazing.... ...what a great talent...

...and did anyone notice that when the crew on Battlestar Gallactica started going screwy at the end of last season, hearing some song coming from inside the walls of the ship....

"There must be some way outa here, said the joker to the thief....

Yup, Bob Dylan is Everywhere!

Well it's all right, even if you're old and grey
Well it's all right, you still got something to say

And here's The Travelling Wilburies video of the song. I love it.

A pretty good 'un for a 65th or a 66th birthday.   Or any subsequent one.

He doesn't look 66.

Well, he looks like he could be that young, or a lot more. People vary in how they age.

I can't believe we are celebrating his 66th. Seems to me we are still congratulating him on his 65th. Man does time fly.
Mike Regenstreif show is the best.

XM Satellite Radio's Deep Tracks Channel (40) is playing Dylan originals and covers all day long.

As I typed this message, Peter, Paul & Mary's excellent rendition of "Blowin' In The Wind" was followed by Richie Havens' version of "All Along The Watchtower".

I'm currently listening to the podcast of this morning's Folk Roots/Folk Branches with Mike Regenstreif. It's a two hours of Dylan songs done by an amazing selection of artists.

You can check out the playlist here.

Today is Bob Dylan's 65th birthday!!! How amazing that the man who started it all for me and so many music lovers is still writing and performing at his peak. He was my creative muse and need never have written a better album than Freewheelin' or Bringing It all Back Home..and on and on. A true genius of music, I wish him he best and many more years of creative bliss.

There's probably many celebrations going on to sing Dylan this weekend,so post 'em here if you know of them. Or just hum a few bars of Forever Young.
