For many years Laura Ellen had a radio show on www.kpig.com
and she could often be seen on the station's web cam with
her faithful border collie joining her at the controls.

She also hosted a web site www.cowboyculturalsociety.com
which streams cowboy music 24/7.

She passed away monday after being diagnosed with lung cancer
just two weeks ago.

Here is the obit.

She was an animal lover and always advocated for the critters.

actually the dog was an Australian shepherd, as i recall now.

I worked with Laura at the old KDNA radio in St. Louis back around 1970. She was one of many young people (she must have been about 17 at the time) who wandered through KDNA, which was one of the pioneer "community radio" operations, but unlike most of them, she stayed and was part of the family -- much of the staff lived upstairs in the old house in Gaslight Square that contained the studio on the ground floor.

I hadn't seen or talked to her in years, but she was an old and good friend. She left us much too soon.

John, you may want to post on the www.kpig.com site as that is the
station she started and many who knew and loved her well have been
sending messages there with memories of her. there are many posts
in the "pig squeal" or "hog squeal" list. Some of the folks there
may be interested in your story about her early years.

i looked up KDNA and they were part of an organization called Double
Helix which operates a t.v. station in St. L. these days.
