Subject: Tech: Internet script error From: Herga Kitty Date: 05 Jun 07 - 05:15 PM I'm suddenly getting a message when I get into Mudcat or open a thread that there's "an internet script error on this page". I used to get this all the time when I was on dial-up and Windows 95, which is one of the reasons I updated my computer and switched to broadband. Can anyone explain why it's happening now? Kitty |
Subject: RE: Tech: Internet script error From: JohnInKansas Date: 05 Jun 07 - 05:48 PM You should be able to eliminate the error message by turning off "Script Debugging." Most browsers should allow you to check pages for errors, and lots of pages have errors. Usually, if you can see the page, they don't really matter much. In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internet Options, and on the Advanced tab just put a check mark in the box at "Disable Script Debugging." You may still (in IE at least) get a note at the bottom that says "Done but with errors" occasionally. On many sites this just means that one of the embedded ads didn't get retrieved from a source external to the website you're getting the page from, or a timeout happened before all the adware finished loading. Subject: RE: Tech: Internet script error From: Herga Kitty Date: 05 Jun 07 - 05:52 PM Thanks, John, but I've just done what you suggested, and the Disable Script Debugging" box is already checked! Kitty |

Subject: RE: Tech: Internet script error From: GUEST,Nicholas Waller Date: 05 Jun 07 - 06:32 PM I had a problem today with at least one thread - Songs about getting really old - that made Firefox freeze so I had to force quit. It opened OK in Safari, but was sticky in Firefox for quite a while (OK now). It did look as though some component - an ad - was failing to load. |
