Subject: Origins: Where be the horses where be the men? From: GUEST Date: 07 Jun 07 - 05:28 PM I'm seeking the lyrics for this song which I heard John Haywood sing in Shropshire in the mid 1980s. John was a farmer and he may have written the song, all I can remember is the chorus: Where be the horses? Where be the men? Machinery now rules the day The air's full of diesel The smell of that raw And they do a week's work in a day |

Subject: RE: Origins: Where be the horses where be the men? From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 07 Jun 07 - 05:50 PM He may have been inspired by the story, "The Glittering Plain, or the Land of Living Men,"by William Morris, where appears 'Where be the horses and the men,' but I can't find a song. |
