Subject: Origins: Hippie Love Song & Caveman?
From: Radius

I have two songs that seem to be lost in time, so I thought I'd ask here. Looking for artist/album/lyrics, etc..

The first one is "Hippie Love Song", though I am unsure if that is the title, as the singer introduces it as such before he sings the song. The lyrics are as I can remember.

I hit on mom & daddy, and they wired me some cash.
I got a good connection, and scored a heavy stash,
And I wanted you to know you'd always have a place to crash,
But you was gone again.

I'd trade every single food stamp in my little leather pouch
If you'd just come on back, and do a/your thing with me

I thought that I might find you at the love-in in the park.
So I stumbled through the bushes, over bodies in the dark,
And I suddenly got trampled when somebody hollered "Narc!",
And you was gone again.

I'd trade every single food stamp in my little leather pouch
If you'd just come on back, and do a/your thing with me

I went out to the campus, and I thought I saw your face,
Just before that trooper got ya, with his little can of mace.
And the paddy wagons came and I was left without a trace,
And you was gone again.

I'd trade every single food stamp in my little leather pouch
If you'd just come on back, and do a/your thing with me.

I went up to Penasco(?), and your sleeping bag was there,
And I wanted so to tell you just how much I really care,
But when I opened up the flap I saw someone else's hair,
And you was gone again.

I'd trade every single food stamp in my little leather pouch
If you'd just come on back, and do a/your thing with me.

Second song I thought was named Caveman, and was reminiscent of Nervous Norvus. The lyrics are much more spotty.
...
Wanna' be a caveman, a brave man, swinging through the trees,
Soaring through the jungle in a pair of BVD's.
...
Won't get no 'daddy come home' mail
...
Look out Tarzan cause' here I come.

Wanna' be a caveman, a brave man, swinging through the trees,
Soaring through the jungle in a pair of BVD's.

Thanks much!

Ray~

The first song is possibly by hank and lewie wickham out of New Mexico. I know it was on one of their albums.

Hippie Love Song is Lewie Wickham Trio around 1970 or so. These lyrics are out of order.
